First and last visit

Railway line noisy, road noisy, staff grumpy, getting information was like pulling teeth, facilities not that clean, some showers broken. Wifi does not work all over the site as advertised.

August 15

oh dear! We've stayed at this site several times and always enjoyed it but its 2 years since we were last here and its very noticeable to see standards have fallen. The site has a sad, neglected air the toilets and shower blocks are in need of extensive refurbishment. In the block we used 3 out of the 7 showers appeared to be permanently locked for the whole of our stay, not sure why. The sink and tap which should be used for fresh water was dirty but was eventually cleaned. Another reviewer has commented on the bar, it is dirty and smells of cats you go once but not twice! To say it has a restaurant is somewhat misleading as it consists of a couple of "stand- up" tables outside the shop! Check in and check out is laborious, the office closes 12-30 - 3-00pm so take care to time your arrival. it took 25 minutes to check out and pay for electricity, not good if you have a long onward journey. We didn't find the train noise intrusive but can see others would. The up side to this site is its close proximity to the beautiful town of Staufen with its restaurants and cafes. it's an easy walk along the banks of the river. There is a free transport system for tourists ask for the Konus card at the reception, The outside pool next to the site is also free to people staying at the site. There are plenty of walking and biking trails to use. The Winefest is great, lovely atmosphere it takes place at the beginning of August. We still enjoy coming to this site but it is sad to see the lack of investment.

July 2015

This an excellent site within easy walk to the town of Staufen where you can enjoy good food and/or a drink at number hotels/bars. Good cycle lanes and many nearby towns/village to visit. Large swimming pool / outdoor complex across from site for kids and adults to enjoy the sun. The town is very period and lively, try to go when the winefest is on for more excitement. Great site

July 2015 holiday

I enjoyed the site. Pleasant location near pool which was great in heat wave. Staff were pleasant. If you are sited near the railway line the noise is noticeable as the crossing is there. Good cycling and pleasant walks. 21 euros for 10 days' electricity: they will read meter

we were booked on this site for 10 days ,but left a day early .We couldn't stand the train noise as we were sited dead next to the train track with the rest of the english.Everytime a train came past it shook the awning and they were also going through the night .It says in the cc brochure some road & rail noise ,what it should say is the railway is right behind the site.We visited the pub on site which needed a really good clean ,it looked like it hadn't been opened since the 1980'.It was also home for cats & kittens and certainly didn't smell fresh .Very disappointed think the Caravan club needs to send someone to review this site

Summer 2015

Surprised by some of the negative comments. I found the staff efficient and on duty 0730-2200. Area is lovely and there was plenty to do and see. Stafen has events on most weekends. Only negative aspect would be that the toilets are modelled for winter use so there are few washbasins only for summer use (as these are within the individual shower rooms which can become very busy int he mornings - in the mens toilets as one reviewer has commented.) For an area famous for cakes try the original black forest gateau at Triberg - well worth the 50 mile trip.

Another stay in BELCHENBLICK

Having stayed at BELCHENBLICK on numerous occasions we have always found the staff helpful and pleasant. Great location with a lovely riverside walk to the village of Staufen. We appreciated the ticket for free local travel. Toilet facilities are clean although perhaps a bit dated. We would be happy to return.

Very good Black Forest Site

A well organised site next to the lovely little town of Staufen whose "Germanicness" really appealed. Check out Deckers Cafe for the best cakes in the known universe. Staff reception courteous and efficient  if a bit severe and lacking in humour. Black Forest area supposed to have the most favourable climate. Big public swimming pool adjacent to the site and FOC to campers.

We won't be going back!

From when we arrived to when we left we felt unwanted. There was no word of welcome. The pitches with full services are small and in full sun with no shade. We were reliant on other campers to find the ladies showers as they were with the mens' toilets! However Staufen is well worth a visit.

Disappointing !

This is to replace a review written a few days ago which appears not to have been sent from my iPad and in which I incorrectly referred to a previous review as being by Gaines when in fact it was from barwestham .. We stayed at this site from 20 - 26 May 2015 .The good points are it is located within a short walk of Staufen which is a pretty village with cafes and restaurants offering good service and food at reasonable prices . It is also well placed for visiting other parts of the Black Forest . The bad points outweigh the good ones to a significant degree and are centred round the unhelpful and disinterested approach of the three men who run reception .None of our efforts to be pleasant or to engage with them were met with anything other than coldness at best and rudeness at worst .The only literature they provided in English was minimal and even then only partly in English .They had no other information on site in English and when we asked where we could find some we were told to try the bookshop in Staufen but they could not give us directions to it (!!!!) .When we found it the staff there were much more helpful and provided us with the only guidebook they stocked in English which we bought . We were repeatedly told at reception that their Wi fi system was down and was likely to remain so until after the holiday Monday on the 25 May .Yet when we checked out on the 26th I asked when they were expecting to have the Wi fi fixed only to be told it had been available in the reception area all the time ! It was obvious that we and others wanted to use the Wi fi but there wasn't even a notice in reception (let alone outside) to say that Wi fi was now available . The site is run by a family and those we met on the Saturday when pizza was sold and there was some local music were friendly ,polite and reserved with which we have no problem .Many of the other campers were German who obviously returned to the site regularly and they too wre generally friendly . This is all in contrast to the reception staff .Like a previous reviewer we found what we were charged for electricity expensive and we would not consider staying on a site again where electricity is charged separately .Even the man at reception thought we had used a lot but as I had not looked at the initial reading when we arrived (needless to say I hadn't been offered the opportunity ) I couldn't argue . Even when we left there was not even a query as to whether we had had a good stay from reception .The family Wiesler whose site this is probably have a very good business from repeat German campers which is fine .If they are seeking to encourage other nationalities then some fairly simple steps are needed to overcome the problems we found .Another English couple who arrived after us spoke of the receptionists as " they don't seem to like us vey much ,do they ?" which mirrors our own views . The main question is why ,given the previous mixed reviews ,is this one of the few German sites recommended by the Caravan Club's Continental brochure ? There must be better sites in the Black Forest than this one where the staff at least like to show some interest in their customers -other than charging them ! We would not recommend this site to anyone except as an example of how not to cater for a market the owners presumably want to foster !
