EXcellent site handy for ferry

This is an excellent site with friendly staff. Stayed both outgoing and coming back via Calais. Well laid out site with ample sized pitches.

a handy stopover

We stayed here for 1 night on our way back from the cote d'azur, very convenient for the Eurotunnel, only 30 mins max. Easy access for larger outfits, big pitches, clean facilities, nice pool, restaurant very basic and food very average but not too pricey so was ok. The chateau itself is not very pretty to look at. Would stay here again for the convenience of its proximity to the Eurotunnel.

Second time this year

A lovely site , second stop this year after crossing through Dunkirk. We decided to stop two nights this time and explored the area. Good site , friendly staff, pleasant restaurant on site. We will definitely use it again when travelling through Dunkirk

Mini break before we head for home

We have used this site a number of times for a mini break at the end of the holiday, before the trip home. We arrived a day earlier than booked, no problem for the staff and we were soon set up on our pitches. Had a relaxing day by the pool, exactly what we needed, followed by dinner in the restaurant, which was as good as ever. Will be back there next year

Regular Visitor

We have used this site many times, both for two night stays and also longer ones. The facilities are very good and maintained to a very high standard. The staff are always very obliging and, as most users know levelling blocks are usually required on the nice and roomy emplacements other than that its a site to relax in and enjoy with plenty of activities for the children to enjoy. Being within easy access of the ports its an ideal place for a journey break / longer stay-we look forward to our next visit...great team, great site.

Overnight Stop

Stopped here overnight on way back to England via Dunkirk. Large pitches and toilet/shower facilities good. As previous reviews have said there are two pools, one heated and one not. WIFI is quite slow and VERY expensive at 10 euros a day. They seem to put all the "passing through" British in one area which is ok as we do not then disturb others when we leave. Pitch was quite sloping both ways and needed all the levelling blocks I had. Be aware the two local supermarkets close on a Monday as do quite a few of the other local shops. Would use again if passing through and would consider staying a few days to explore the area.

En route stop on the way home !!

Always been the last site on the way home, only 30 mins from ferry's.Then the worst bit for us driving back up to the midlands. Nice site a lot of british's mostly on the way home, For us its perfect usually staying for 2 nights 1 full day to do something if its shopping at calais or this time a trip to belgium only 1:30 to gent yes a bit more driving but well worth it. Kids love the pool more so the warm one just like everybody else, so sometimes very busy. Will be staying there again for what we use it for, but saying that their is loads to do even if the weather is the same as britain.

Site with many qualities

Gandspette is conveniently situated for the ferry terminals at both Calais and Dunkerque. Road access from both ports is good with clear sign posting for the return journey to the ports. There is easy access to motorways. The site has a good mixture of short and long stays which contributes to its busy feel. There are two facilities blocks so over-crowding is not an issue even at busy times of the day. There is a pleasant, reasonably priced bar and restaurant. Families are well catered for at Gandspette. A good play area and boule pitch are available.  There is large cool water pool and a smaller warm water pool (both outdoors). Swimming areas can be very busy. Caravan pitches are large and most need levelling blocks. A night watchman and dog provide security during the hours of darkness. There is much to see in the surrounding area. The waterways of the Marais, the giants at Bergues, the hilltop town of Cassel (Foch's command centre at a critical point in WW1), the Blockhouse at Epelecques is practically next door, the market at St Omer and of course the Channel ports themselves.

August 2016

Recently spent 3 nights here before returning home as we like to explore the area rather than just passing through all the time. It’s best to access the site from the roundabout on the D300 and follow the signs slowly as the entrance is easy to miss. Helpful reception staff allowed us to move from the pitch we were allocated to a quieter one away from the statics which are in the centre of the ‘new’ part of the site. The site facilities are excellent, we didn’t really use most of them apart from the pools as the weather was good and the take away which is reasonably priced also there is a supermarket with 24/24 fuel just over the D300 roundabout. There is a transient feel to the site sometimes with all the comings and goings but most people are considerate when leaving early for ferries. We manged to get to the daily 8pm ceremony at the Menin Gate in Ypres, the Aquarium in Boulogne and visit Hazebrouck (Monday market and family war connection) during our stay. Will certainly be back again to this great site.

Great site for families

We stayed at this site for 4 nights in August 2016 on our way back from the Loire Valley, to break up the journey home.  This was our 3rd visit to this lovely site. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the site is very well kept and the showers are good and very clean. There are 2 swimming pools, one warm and one cold, a lovely tennis court, several table tennis tables (2 undercover), bouncy castle, boules courts, children's play area, outdoor excercise equipment and an all weather sports pitch.  There is so much to do on the site that you don't have to leave it to amuse the children. There is also a bar, restaurant and take away. Everyday there were a couple of organised sporting events for the children, which were well advertised and attended. Lille is well within travelling distance for a day out, as is Bruges. We will be visiting again.
