We stayed here for 12 nights during the last week of June and first week of July 2015. We usually avoid "family" sites, but were totally amazed at how La Clusure seems to effortlessly cope with large numbers.
This is essentially a family run site, but there must be over 100 staff, and they are all dedicated to allowing customers to have a great time.
The facilities were spotless, and we liked that they were managed without the need to shutdown.
The restaurant was pricy but the adjoining bar offered snack meals at more reasonable prices.
Trains run alongside the site - perhaps 4 an hour - but the noise is fleeting.
During our stay, we had a week of 35c temperatures and wall to wall sunshine. We were not envious of those who were using the site as an overnight stop on their way to the sun.
Walking in the area is brilliant, with some great waymarked trails within a mile of the site, and dozens of others within a 10 mile radius.
Cycling was, to say the least, strenuous, but we found a railway path starting a few miles away south of Rochefort which gives dozens of miles of flat riding.
We'll definitely return to this site.
