Fantastic

What a fantastic site. We had already rejected another site nearer the motorway and travelled further away from our route for this one. Everything was first class with a real personal service, even shown to our pitch & checked on us all ok later. we had a family meal in the on-site restaurant that would have knocked spots off a 4* one at home. Can't say better. Would book longer next time.

A Flemish experience in Belgium

We have just returned from 4 nights in the height of the summer.  The weather was very warm.   The site is very big, very family friendly and lots going on for kids albeit all through the medium of Dutch/Flemish including the evening entertainment.  However, all staff do speak English.   We appeared to be the only UK residents on site!    There is a shallow river alongside the site and kids were having a great time playing with rubber rings and dinghy's along a make-shift course.   Overall, the surrounding area is very rural - ideal for walking and cycling with two small towns 10 mins away.

Belguim surprise

A big site but this couple loved it , the site staff work very hard entertaining kids , working in the bar / restaurant and the owner always seems to be about We had a meal in the restaurant and it was first class service,  pitch was a reasonable size  with water and drainage nearby , just wished we booked longer than 5 nights , we will return

A real eye-opener

We stayed here for 12 nights during the last week of June and first week of July 2015.  We usually avoid "family" sites, but were totally amazed at how La Clusure seems to effortlessly cope with large numbers.  This is essentially a family run site, but there must be over 100 staff, and they are all dedicated to allowing customers to have a great time. The facilities were spotless, and we liked that they were managed without the need to shutdown. The restaurant was pricy but the adjoining bar offered snack meals at more reasonable prices. Trains run alongside the site - perhaps 4 an hour - but the noise is fleeting. During our stay, we had a week of 35c temperatures and wall to wall sunshine. We were not envious of those who were using the site as an overnight stop on their way to the sun. Walking in the area is brilliant, with some great waymarked trails within a mile of the site, and dozens of others within a 10 mile radius. Cycling was, to say the least, strenuous, but we found a railway path starting a few miles away south of Rochefort which gives dozens of miles of flat riding. We'll definitely return to this site.

Belguim Adventures

We stayed at this campsite last week of may 2015. On first arrival we were a bit worried as the site looked very big and much more commercial than we usually like. We had no reason to worry as the site is cleverly laid out so as not to feel like a big sprawling cramped caravan park, in fact if felt the exact opposite despite its size. We were supplied with 16a electric and water and waste a stones throw from the pitch which seems to be the norm on all the touring pitches. Shop was well stocked with essentials - food, beer, wine etc plus inflatables for use in the river (shallow and flows alongside campsite), tent pegs, awnings (!) etc etc. Facilities for teenage kids are excellent with bikes for rent plus loads of other stuff (Bounce adventures). Tennis courts, swimming pool, bar, snacks and even a site restaurant - all there but we didn't use any of it because we were too busy visiting the many nearby attractions. Not much really close to site but plenty to do within an hours drive or closer. The site description does warn of some train noise and for sure you do hear and see the trains trundle past. If you want ultimate tranquillity this will not suit you but it did not worry us at all. Shower blocks and loos were always clean and plentiful but worth noting we almost had the site to ourselves - so quiet it was fantastic - but no measure on how the site fares when near capacity. Approach road a bit narrow and winding but not a big problem and also nice to note the site is signposted from quite a distance away so easy to find it. We recon its a great holiday base for active families and energetic couples but might not suit you if you enjoy 'grass roots' camping. A great site for the Caravan Club to offer to us and we would definitely consider a return visit for our family of 2 adults and 2 16 year old boys.
