Winter Holiday

Our first venture abroad with our MH unfortunately after a brilliant crossing on Le Shuttle we encountered the French Farmer barricades which was a complete nightmare and really spoilt our journey through France however we arrived safe and sound at La Manga and it is definitely a marmite site love it or loath it but we loved it. We had 5 weeks in La Manga with the Rally folks and we had such a good time the folks on the rally were absolutely lovely and really made the holiday. Trish and Jimmy were the hosts (called in to cover for Judith who was poorly) and they too were lovely. You can do as little or as much as you want when with the rally group - we were restricted due to having our dog and nobody told us you need bikes at La Manga but lesson learnt and we will be packing them and a dog trolley for next visit. The facilities are a little tired but there was always hot water and they were cleaned regularly. The Spar shop was well stocked with fresh bread daily and lots of yummy pastries. We hired a car while we were there and visited several places to save us moving the motor home. Its an easy walk to the supermarkets and also to the markets held weekly close by most people used their bikes if they didn't have a car but we were content and able to walk but if you had an mobility issues you would need to ensure you had supplies. The sun shone for the duration of our 5 weeks and we could of stayed longer however the beautiful Costa Blanca beckoned for us and so we left the lovely folks behind to enjoy the rest of the holiday. None of the pools were open while we were there which was a shame as we did have good weather. The indoor pool was closed for maintenance which I appreciate needs to be done but it would of been good if this facility had been operational as it was one of the reasons I chose to go there. The restaurant was ok we only ate in their a couple of times and didn't attend any of the Rally Dinner and Dances due to our dog deciding to bark constantly when we tried to leave her so we didn't want to inflict the noise on our neighbours and were content to cook ourselves or sit outside for early tea/late lunch and keep her with us.
