Fantastic site

This site is a well-run family environment. The pitch was a really good size, I requested a sunny location and had the sun all day and most of the evening (would have been all evening if it wasn't for one annoying tree!) if you are not a sun lover there are plenty of pitches in the shade (all pitches seem to be of good size). There had been in previous weeks quite alot of rain and our pitch did have welts in the ground where the poor previous occupiers obviously got stuck, but apart from that a good pitch with electrics and own water supply. The pool was nice and didnt get too over crowded considering when we were there it was fully booked. The kids loved the water slides. The bar/restaurant was limited but okay and the staff were all friendly. The toilets/showers and washing facilities were clean and there was enough hot water for a decent shower. We stayed on this site for two weeks, this wasnt our first choice but left booking too late, but we wasnt disappointed, the lake is a definate bonus! we did find that we was running out of things to do by the second week but there is definately enough to do for a week and we would go back again probably for a few days as a stop gap for further trips to the south. All in all a lovely site and well worth a visit.

"On our way home"

We stayed one day here on route to Zebrugge from the south of France. Layout is a slight challenge to find your number pitch but once found it was large and suitable. The new facilities block is excellent and kept clean. The cafe/ restaurant was basic but very adequate and reasonablely priced. There was a TV so we are able to see the end of a stage of the Tour de France which was brilliant. We would use this site again. Its a pity it closes in September.

wonderful area

This was our first French adventure, we thought play safe book through The Caravan Club, yes it limited the choice of sites but trusting they have the same standards as here in GB we couldn't go wrong. This site was on our route down towards our longest stay in ANNACY. We can highly recommend this site, beautifully clean and well maintained a great family site. We only stayed one night but would definitely stay longer next visit, the surrounding area offers lots of outdoor activities. The Lake just outside the campsite is beautiful, clear turquoise water. Boat hire, Bike hire and lots of walking opportunities.

Lovely site

We stayed late June before the school holidays began and once in late July when they had as we travelled to and from Switerland. I preferred the site before the holidays started; it was quieter and cleaner. It is really well set up for families and there were a lot of families there on our second night. Both pitches we had were a really good size and I loved the overall layout between the trees. The newer toilet block is wonderful. Everything was really good including the chips from the takeaway at the bar/café! We would definitely stay here again.

Great for Families

We stayed 2 nights and were impressed with all the facilities: pools, restaurant the toilet block best we have ever been in. Much more than we would need on our journey down south for 4 weeks. So we felt we paid for extras we never used. Surrounding area quiet, we felt we would need to travel by car to explore rather than walk, cycle or use public transport. Enjoyed walking and cycling around the lake.

10 day stay

A lovely site in a beautiful area. Shower block was the best we have ever seen on a campsite. Amazing sunsets over the lake. We stayed for 10 days although it does seem tobe a transient site with people coming and going. Staff very friendly. you do need a car if you stay on this site as there are no local shops in the immediate area.

Wet overnight stop

Our one night stop was not helped by the recent rain in France. This had made the site very wet and only gravel pitches were available and some of these were muddy. But you can't blame the site for the weather! Our pitch was a bit difficult to find until you realised that pitch numbers were on the taps. We were cramped in due to boggy grass area but made the best of what was a beautiful evening when we walked to the lake and enjoyed the glorious colours of sunset and the peace and quiet. Were able to have a beer and use internet at same time. Shower block very nice with plenty of hot water and clean. I would stop there again if the weather was drier!

Good Location

The setting beside the lake is the real plus for the site. It's well placed for a stop over or a few days. Near to Troyes which is well worth a visit. Heavy rain meant some issues with pitches which was understandable. Some of the hard-standings towards the lower end of the site seem quite close to each other with not much between them. If you want quiet beware being near the bouncy castle, the blower on it can be on 12 hours a day!! Facilities modern and clean though no privacy cubicles if that's important to you.

First Class Stop ....Almost

This is our second time stopping at Lac D'Orient. This time in torrential rain. Cats and dogs for two weeks prior and almost constantly whilst staying. No site can fully be prepared for such an amount of water. All grass pitches were and will remain for some time "out of bounds", so everyone was crunched up on what ever hard standing they had...and this was in deep water in many places. Not to worry, the staff are very helpful and the site is very clean indeed. A pretty good restaurant and pool ....Ha Ha !!! Its the location that makes this site. On the side of a huge lake the whole area is a nature reserve. Lots to see and do. Load of good walking and Troyes is just 20 minutes drive away. Fantastic pizza restaurant just outside the gate. Whatever the weather we would recommend this site for a few days stop en-route south and east. Enjoy.
