Good for a short stopover

Had a four night stay in July 2015 on the way further south. Good location for a stop of between the ferry and further south. Blessed by hot weather for the most part which allowed swimming in the lake which is a few minutes’ walk from the site. The lake has a designated lifeguard area through the day but is relatively safe for areas adjacent to this. The site also has a pool and slide complex which was handy for and popular with families with younger children. The site seemed well geared up for families with young children with events and shows on for them. Overall the site is to a decent standard but many of the pitches are on sloping ground. The first pitch we were allocated would have required us to run our electric cable to the hook-up point across a site footpath. The staff accepted this as a norm but when pushed they allowed us to change pitches. A little limited in the area for things to do when the weather is not hot and sunny, but nearby Troyes was pleasant, in part with mediaeval buildings.

Stopover Site

We used this site on the way down to the South of France. It is really well located just off the main highways.  Check in was easy and our pitch was if a good size.  Toilet and wash facilities were also clean and well maintained.  Although only there for one night, we did manage to make use of the excellent indoor and outdoor pools which also had slides.  We also ate at the bistro which was fairly ok and at s reasonable price.  My only slight negative is that you cannot leave before 7.30am to get back on the road early.

Lovely location, nearly perfect!

This campsite is in a lovely location with the lake a minutes walk away. At the lake there is all sort of activities to do and lovely scenery. The pitch we were given was of sufficient size and the electricity and water was easily accessible. The pool facility is of good standard as is the indoor pool, although the stones are hard on the feet as you have to leave your footwear at the gate. However, I am informed that they are resurfacing this in the winter. We were based in the centre pitches so can only vouch for the block here, which I must say is the best I have seen at any camp site. Spacious cubicles, always clean with modern showers. Onsite shop is good and the food quality is as well. Only things I would change are: 1) pool flooring - which hopefully is being done. 2) shop and restaurant to open more than 3hr stints, especially in high season. For these two reasons only, the facility gets 4. Hoping to stay here again next year!!

Great time

We turned up for three nights in our MH we had a large pitch with water half under trees which was great when to hot. Toilet block always clean and never busy. Staff very friendly great indoor and outdoor pools. Lake across the road. Restaurant food was OK and bar evenly priced. I thought it was better than some of the other camp sites we had stopped in whilst touring France.

Clean and comfortable

We stayed at this site for 4 nights. We were allocated a good size pitch, next to open fields with water and drainage. The proximity to the lovely lake is a distinct advantage and we were able to walk with our dog around this area. Some parts of the lake shore line were designated ' dog free' areas however. Facilities were thoroughly cleaned twice daily and I only needed to queue for a shower on one occasion.  Children's activities for the over 5's were delivered by the animation team. My two granddaughters (under 5yrs old) were allowed to participate as I stayed to supervise them. Play areas are good. There are indoor and outdoor pools. There was a lot of loose gravel around the outdoor pools and as shoes had to be removed before entry to the area, it was painful to walk around. There was also quite a lot of gravel in the pool. They were a good size for children but too small for adults wishing to swim lengths. Men are required to wear 'speedos' when swimming and the 'no swim shorts' rule is enforced. We didn't eat at the restaurant as we felt that the meals were quite expensive. The site is reasonably remote and the nearest village is a car ride away.

Great if you get a large pitch

Party of three in MH with two adults and a17 yo. Stayed 6 nights (booked 5 and turned up a day early so stayed in the overnight area for 1). Good: over the road to the lake, cafe, water sports, good for all outdoor activities too. Clean amenities, had 'entertainment on if you has smaller kids (we didn't).  We had a large pitch backing on to open grass land with water and waste on site so very pleased with that. On the negative side, some of the pitches seemed close together if you where unlucky but that didnt affect us. It was quite busy and noisy if you where located nearer the bar/pool etc but that is to be expected in high season. I was quite impressed with the site overall as it was clean and suited us for outdoor stuff.

Disappointing Visit

On the plus side, the reception staff were very friendly and managed to get us into the last available pitch at short notice.  They indicated that it was one of their poorest pitch but it was all that was available. They did charge full price though. Another plus was that the amenity block was exceptionally clean - with instructions to remove footwear before entering the shower/washbasin areas. From then on our experience went downhill.  The pitch must have been the worst one I have ever encountered.  It was basically sited directly on a dirt track which lead to a rubbish dump for old vegetation, just at the end of the pitch itself. We had the most appalling meal in the restaurant which cost the same amount of money that we had paid the 2 days earlier in a Michelin starred restaurant in Reims. A great pity, because the site is near a nice lake, which made it very attractive to families. We decided to leave the next day, although we had booked for three nights.  - very disappointing.

Nice but noisy

Good site for a stopover en route further south or if you have a young family. Site does get busy & hence noisy from July onwards. Great lo action for visiting Troyes. Definitely a good location if you like water sports or cycling. The restaurant (ancient bar) food standards is below par but staff helpful & friendly. One major gripe from us is that the pitches allocated to CC member were used a a main thoroughfare to the toilet blocks irrespective even if one is in the middle of eating - not nice. overall though a good site for families, clean & well run.

Great Location

We stopped overnight on our way back to the UK in early July. We're allocated a pitch next to the toilet block and were woken at 7am by two cleaners shouting at each other until 8.15 . They had left the outer doors open and it just amplified their conversation. Used the restaurant and was dissapointed with selection and quality, well below average for sites we had visited. Nice size pitch, facilities good ( very clean ) and site generally very nice. Great location adjacent to lake with plenty of facilities along the promenade. Troyes, Chaumont and Langres with medieval walled town all fairly close.
