Charming site past its best but great ambience and location

It is unfair, as a previous reviewer has done, to simply give the site one star on the basis of an overnight stop on the way to the ferry. The site is very well located, it is set on tiered pitches around a small lake, and is very peaceful. The pitches are generally very large, on some levellers are required and ours only had a French connection for the electricity (not a problem if you, like us, carry such a connector) although there were universal type connections available elsewhere. There are plenty of water taps although we had to clean the crud off the closest to us to fit the screw hose adaptor. We found the staff helpful and friendly although security was virtually non existent. Having said that I felt entirely comfortable and secure on the site. The swimming pool is in excellent condition, the water well conditioned and the area immaculately clean. There is a bar that serves food and drinks open in the evenings, and bread can be ordered from the office. (Office closes midday to 2pm which any regular traveller in France would expect). There is a childrens play area with bouncy castles. Toilet and washing facilities are dated but again always clean, set in an old barn type building. Travelling at the end of what had been a very hot season the site was quite dusty. So, it may once have been a four star site but its glory had faded somewhat and needs work to bring it back to that standard. Three stars is probably fair, and I would be happy to stay there again, especially as a first stop off the St Malo ferry.
