Disappointing, everything shut

We didn’t actually book through CMC, I’ve just stumbled across it being a CMC affiliated site, this single handedly is the worst campsite we have stayed in in France and despite intending to stay 2 or 3 nights, we left after one. We stopped their in May 2023. We were charged full price yet everything including the sanitary block was closed, no snack bar, no mini golf, no pool, not even the vending machines were open. There were limited showers and toilets available in a small area at the reception for the whole site. The pitches are not a bad size but the stand pipes have metal protective bars around them which make manoeuvring in and out precarious. You can walk down to the Loire from the site and across to the town in 15-20 minutes but there are so many campsites in the area, I would move on, there is one just up the road with glowing reviews. We are still travelling through France so I thought I would look at the CMC sites but if this one is an indication of the standard, we will skip the others

Response from the Club:

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. This site was visited by the Club in July of this year .The facilities are clean and the pitches are well laid out with some of them being protected at the taps.
The toilets and showers by the reception are only open in high season, while the heated sanitary block is open all year round, as is the mini golf.
The pool and snack bar are closed outside of high season subject to the owner's discretion as noted on our website for all of our partner campsites.
We work with a variety of sites throughout Europe, from small quiet sites to much larger sites with lots of entertainment and facilities, so that members can choose a site that is best for them.
As per our description this site is only bookable through the Club from October to April and is perfect as a stopover when travelling down to Spain or Portugal when the majority of sites are closed.

Hi, Interesting, as this is an option for our return leg in June, using either CMC vouchers, which we have as part of the combined fare with Brittany Ferries, or the ACSI card.

Where you using ACSI and, as it’s only the 3rd May, assume you have just been there?
French sites are known for being geared to the main holiday season, often  come late August things are closing down, and like you we have experienced the reduction of facilities in the early season.

For this reason we look for larger sites that have static vans etc as they have been more likely to have facilities that are open.
