Delightful, active sea-side site

We stayed here for one night en route from Spain into France and on our way back too.  The site is quite close to the motorway and easy to find.  A lovely location backing on to the beautiful beach, with excellent facilities including the well stocked shop and good cafe/restaurant.  Clean and well run. Although not high season, with lots of empty pitches, it was a lively (not noisy) site, well patronised by sun worshippers and surfers.

Great site for September visit.

We have been to this site before during the high season and yes it is expensive but the location is fabulous. We asked if we could pick a pitch which was good.  This time we came mid September and had an amazing couple of nights with beautiful sunsets, beautiful weather and very peaceful evenings. Site was clean , shop had everything we needed but did think to charge wifi was a bit much given the nightly price we paid off peak. We do love this area and will most certainly be back.

Overrated and overpriced

This  site has a great location as everybody says and the no-dog rule is a bonus for non-dog-lovers. However it is grossly overpriced for what it is...I guess that they charge for the location as the facilities that we used were tired and in desperate need of upgrading. Also, what is it with the French and their toilet seats???? Or lack of them! Toilet paper too seems to be a luxury, which for a supposedly civilised country falls way below expectations. If we are ever in the area again we would stay at the Yelloh! site which is just across the road, for definite!

Location, location, location

A very clean and well kept site - pitches can be tight though plenty of other holidaymakers happy to help. Facilities very clean. If visiting with younger children, take care on beach, waves and current very strong. No dogs allowed on site  Surfing and beach by day, fabulous sunsets by night - idyllic

Sound of waves

Spent two weeks at this site. Pitches were smaller than we have been used to and can be quite tight getting onto your pitch. We had a great location pitch down towards the beach end, a few metres through the key card access gate and down a steepish flight of steps and we were on the fabulous beach. The waves were variable each day but could be very strong at times-taking you off your feet. Lifeguards were present until 6pm. Can walk along beach to a snack bar and a fish restaurant during the day although the tide comes in and cuts off  beach at night so not an option for evening meal.  Very clean and well stocked shop, restaurant seemed busy (we only had drinks). No bins onsite you have to take your rubbish up to the main entrance. Plenty of toilets in a separate block to the showers and wash cubicles (same throughout the site) Modern push button showers which could be busy at peak times. Wifi-20 euros for 2 weeks done online with a credit card. Signal poor on our pitch better by restaurant and toilets. Only one table tennis table. Pool area nice-pool cold and busy at times sometimes with sunbed shortage. Daughter adds it’s a suntrap –she burnt! Few parasols available. Free bus service –(bus stop 5 mins walk from reception) to Bidart (7min bus trip) and Biarritz (15 min) –vouchers collected from reception-exchanged for tickets on the bus which lasted for 24hours (no limit on the vouchers). The bus service was also trialling a night service over the summer so the buses ran almost 24 hours.  Bidart is a small but pretty village with a few eateries off the square-we ate in one on the square –looking for a traditional meal which we thought was poor but later had a meal in the very popular pizzeria just up the hill (booking advised) Lovely views on the outside terrace over the valley. Biarritz is much larger with an array of shops and eateries-we had a lovely walk along the front towards the old port and fishing cottages. We had drinks beer, Gin and tonic and two cokes-27 euros as a guide. We had a basic meal for 4 which was 100 euros with drinks- probably need to spend more for a good quality meal.  Site on the whole was quiet late on apart form one night-though security quickly arrived at 11pm and the noise ended. Would return.

booking suggestions

Really good site, in an excellent location with plenty to see within a short drive and Biarritz can be cycled to. Staff and facilities good and English spoken well, but try in French. When booking email the site- in English, is okay, and ask for a plot on the side away from the golf course. We had a pitch next to the golf course and had two golf balls hit the van and also there is a lane immediately behind a fence which is well used until late at night and we found this to be very noisy well into the early hours. Don't be put off though - well worth a stay.
