Ideal location but compact pitches

We stayed here for one night at the start of our holiday and one on the way back. This site is very compact and most of the pitches have a tight access. You must also avoid the times between 12.30pm and 2pm for arriving as the reception is closed, nothing seems to get in the way of lunch. We arrived at 1.50pm on a Friday and we found a queue of two caravans and a motorhome and there was no room to wait without stopping anyone leaving or accessing the site. We were told we could arrive after 10pm and up to 11pm as the late ferry reaches Caen at 9.30pm, this is fine but there was no staff on scene and just a note was left saying we had pitch 49. Unfortunately there was no map shown for the site and as there are 140 pitches we were very lucky to find our pitch before it got dark. Groups of young people are allowed to camp, which caused us a little concern. There was a tent in the next pitch with about 6-8 French teenagers who went out at about 9pm. As we had to get up at about 6am to get the early ferry we thought we were bound to be disturbed, hats off the the French youth we didn't hear them once when they returned but felt it could have been so different. We have a 7.3m caravan and would be impossible to get on to a pitch without a motor mover. All said the site was alright as a stop over, but having spoken to some fellow caravanner's on the ferry who often use the municipal site nearer to the port, I think I would look into that next time.
