Good for families

Not what it seems

The toilets and showers were always clean although no soap or toilet paper provided. The pitches left a lot to be desired, the staff were helpful but were following orders from the owners not to let people onto the good pitches. The site plan we were given did not even show the best pitches, it was only as we were walking down a lane outside of the site that we saw them. Other people were told different stories as to why they could not be used, a Dutch couple we spoke to, who have been going there for five weeks for the last ten years, were not allowed to use them, the council/pompiiers did not want them used because of a flood seven years ago. The pitches we were allowed to use were rubbish, tight access, impossible without a mover, just dirt and weeds, uncut hedges and lots of sticky seeds on the ground. The light in the chemical toilet disposal point was not working, and although told about it nothing was done to fix it. One couple arrived when we were there with a twin axle van without a mover, having booked months ago and informed them by e mail of the size of his van, no way could they get onto their assigned pitch. After much argument the office staff contacted the owner who allowed them onto the good pitches. On the day we left the site plan had changed to show the other pitches, we were not best pleased, don't go! Many of the people we spoke to were not going to go back.

Response from Club Site Inspector:

I have visited Les Pêcheurs a number of times over recent years and thought it might be helpful to add a few comments to reflect my findings. The site has a fine setting, and is easily accessed from the motorway, and is located a short walk from the picturesque mediaeval village of Roquebrune-sur-Argens, facing the imposing Rocher de Roquebrune. Les Pêcheurs extends over 3 acres of countryside, along the River Argens. This is certainly not a manicured site but has a much more natural, rural flavour, with many pretty flowering shrubs and trees. All pitches offer welcome shade, although they vary in size somewhat. The pool area is excellent and comprises a large principal pool and a well equipped spa facility. The 3 wash blocks and other buildings have all been built in a Provencal style, and were all well maintained during my most recent visit. Other amenities include a restaurant with a large shaded terrace. Canoe hire is available on the river, and a range of activities are also available on the lake across the road from the site (including paddle board, mountain biking etc). I hope that this helps and that in 2022 members will enjoy this campsite.
