A First Class Site with Excellent Facilities
Orangerie de Beauregarde is a new site which opened in May of this year. Much work has obviously been put into getting the site ready and it is without doubt one of the best sites we have ever stayed at.
The site is situated within the grounds of a handsome French chateau. All of the facilities are housed in tastefully converted buildings around the chateau. The sanitary block is spotlessly clean with plenty of space and no queues in the morning! Other facilities include a restaurant (with delicious home-made food at a reasonable price), a coffee shop and bar, a large games room and even a chapel!
There is a superb all-weather multisport court together with a boules court
However, the pièce de la résistance has to be the magnificent swimming pool set in front of the converted orangery building. It even provides disabled access with a ramp running the whole length of the pool, enabling a wheel chair to be wheeled right into the water. It’s the kind of thoughtful detail that is reflected throughout the whole site.
The pitches are large and most have their own water and electricity supply. There are shady pitches available around the borders of the main area and others where you can enjoy sun throughout the whole day.
In addition to the provision for tents, caravans and motorhomes there are also glamping barrels and glamping cabins available for hire.
There is an excellent children’s club on site with lots of activities for the children who were well catered for. There were activities for the adults as well including a small street market that visited and our particular favourite, a very entertaining wine and cheese evening!
There are lots of walks about the park and we even managed to spot several deer. The area is great for cycling as and bikes are available for hire on site.
There are many interesting places to visit within easy reach of the site, including some of the best chateaux on the Loire, including Chenonceau and Chambord. Other places well worth a visit include the wine caves of Vouvray, Tours, and Amboise with a visit to Clos Lucé, the final home of Leonardo da Vinci.
This is not an all singing, all dancing site (which suits us well). Having said that there is plenty here for the whole family.
The owners Tim and Jane together with their family are very welcoming and cannot do enough to make your stay a pleasant one.
This was our first visit to Orangerie de Beauregarde and we enjoyed it so much we have already booked to return twice next year, which we are eagerly looking forward to.
