Avoid Fiesta weeks!

We stayed on this site for 7 nights this August - coinciding with a Fiesta week (so 3 nights of waking in the early hours to music - half 2/3/4... our mistake) - You can walk to two villages from the site - along the river to Lambuerdo (not much there) and along the cycle track to Ainsa - fabulous town - we also drove there as the 34 degree heat was too much to walk a second day. You can park motorhomes at the castle car park - just turn left in the centre of Ainsa, at the end of the road into Ainsa from the campsite and follow P signs. Lovely restaurant at Nos Rios Hotel - we went for lunch twice, 15 euros each for set menu with a bottle of wine included and lovely food. Campsite very busy with lots of tents and families with young children - very good for family holiday as there was a club, etc. We ordered food from the takeaway twice. First time we ordered calamari - under-cooked but threw it away and did not complain / Paella was bland. Then we ordered roast chicken. Pale and not crispy skin should have been an indicator - it was frozen inside. This came from the same kitchen as serves the restaurant and so I assume that the 'Chef' is called 'microwave' and that the young people serving do not know how to use it - I got a refund. Shop sells good, fresh food and bakes bread on site - I can strongly recommend using the shop. The site allows dogs but does not have rules, so consequently the site is a dog toilet. We woke up one morning, went outside and found a dog had left a 'present' right next to our steps. My husband also cleaned up the mess on the path near our pitch when we found a child playing with it. Although the showers were kept clean with a constant attendant, I have given the cleanliness rating 3 stars because of the dog mess issue. In high season there are LOTS of dogs. So apart from avoiding the takeaway / Fiestas and taking your own dog-poo bags to clean up after other owners, the site is in a super spot! views lovely, good location for walking or driving to interesting places in the national park. Take your own pool seats as there are none around the pool and a limited number in the adjoining field (where you can sunbathe and wander to pool to cool down). Pool facilities good - three pools (one indoor) and even in high season we got to swim - so not too crowded because of facilities being so good. We would go again but not for many days and perhaps not in high season.
