A great site in an attractive part of the Rhine Valley

We have just returned from six enjoyable nights. The owners have worked hard for over twenty years to make this a neat, tidy and clean site with two spacious and modern facilities blocks. The site is a ten minute walk from the centre of the small tourist town and a similar walk to Lidl, Aldi and REWE. There are lots to do in the area - a stroll around town, walks in the hills, chair lifts, ferries across the river to Bingen and cruises down stream. We had a train trip to Mainz - an interesting small city - and Koblenz is only an hour away by train. Pitches are not defined, but you will always to 'sited' by the site team who manage the electrical hookups for you. They like to rotate things to protect the grass - after a wet period only caravans and small campers were allowed in some areas. We choose to pitch our motorhome at the far (quiet) end, close to the smaller toilet block (only the large block has showers). Hardstanding pitches close to the gate were available if we had wanted. The small shop/bar/cafe with a tables outside is very good. Local beer and wine are inexpensive and a small range of simple meals and snacks seemed to go down well. Two points to note. The pitches nearer the main block are close to berths for large cruise boats. These have to run their generator sets when they are berthed and some can be a bit noisy, although most leave before midnight. Whilst the motorhome hardstandings each have a tap and a grate for grey water, the method of disposing of grey water at the facilities blocks is a bit unclear. We found it easiest to empty our 'wastemaster' down 'chemical' toilet system. I did not see a 'service point' for motorhomes.
