Oasis in a landscape of vines

We spent 7 days here, near the end of the season. It had originally been a stopover site - but due to car breakdown, our time here was extended. The really great thing about this site is the number of free activities available on it. Our shaded pitch overlooked the lovely lake - with free boating, the pool was the warmest I have ever swum in (delightful), crazy golf, tennis - all free for those on site. The area is a little dull to spend a whole week there. St Emillion is a great medieval town but it mostly functions for tourists. The area surrounding the site is vineyard as far as the eye can see. Good for flat cycling but a little monotonous to look at. We hired a car to go to surrounding areas - but that wasn't too inspiring either. Bergerac was recommended to us - but at around 50 miles away, it was too far for us. We were always really glad to get back to the site and relax at the pool. We even enjoyed the water slide a few times! The showers (the central ones)were like hotel showers; the best I have ever seen on a camping site. Staff at the site spoke English well and were really helpful - giving us info we needed re: taxis, trains, car hire. This is a really lovely site!
