Caravan and MotWalking Wanderers Walk of the Month at Hawes Club Campsite in North Yorkshire
24/02/2026
The Caravan and Motorhome Club is pleased to announce the next instalment of its Walking Wanderers - Walk of the Month series, introducing a new route that champions the simple joy of getting out into the great outdoors. This month, the spotlight turns to Hawes Club Campsite in North Yorkshire, with a relaxed and scenic loop to Hardraw Force and back.
The initiative champions the mental and physical benefits of time spent on foot and encourages members to uncover inspiring routes directly from the Club’s campsites across the UK.
This month’s walk: A 6.4 km Dales loop to Hardraw Force
Starting from Hawes Club Campsite, this moderate 6.4 km circular route follows the Pennine Way towards Hardraw. Walkers can choose to pause at the Green Dragon Inn for paid entry to Hardraw Force – England’s tallest single-drop waterfall – before continuing through Shaw Gill Wood, across quiet pastures near Simonstone, and through Sedbusk. A gentle riverside stretch leads back to Hawes and the campsite.
Expect to spend around two hours on the loop, with up to 45 minutes extra if visiting the waterfall. Paths are mostly firm, with short sections and some muddy patches after wet weather.
Along the way, walkers can enjoy:
- Wide views over Wensleydale from the Pennine Way approach to Hardraw
- A refreshing waterfall stop at Hardraw Force (access via the Green Dragon Inn; entry fee applies)
- Peaceful field paths through to Sedbusk and a gentle riverside return back to Hawes
As a base for exploring on foot, Hawes offers straightforward access to the route from the campsite gates, with refreshments available locally and at nearby hotels for a well-earned post-walk treat.
