Defaqto comparison tool to help tourers

Tourers looking for insurance cover for their motorhome can now compare products with up to 17 other providers with the Caravan and Motorhome Club’s new Defaqto Comparison Tool.

The comparison tool - in partnership with financial product and market intelligence firm Defaqto - allows tourers to compare different levels of cover and key features of the Caravan and Motorhome Club motorhome insurance with other providers in the market on the Club’s website: camc.com/motorhomeinscompare

The Caravan and Motorhome Club’s Motorhome Insurance policy is rated 5 Star by Defaqto, which means it provides one of the most comprehensive policies in the market. It is the only 5 Star Defaqto rated cover of its kind in the country open to tourers of all ages.  The Defaqto Star Rating reflects the quality of a financial product, with each product rated on a scale of one to five stars.

Club members can now compare motorhome insurance benefits side by side with two other providers chosen from a drop-down menu of 21 motorhome insurance products.

The comparison also incorporates the Defaqto Benchmark, whereby levels for each feature have been analysed and set by Defaqto based on its extensive financial product database.

The comparison tool is the perfect place to compare the Club’s Motorhome and Campervan insurance with other providers and covers 24 key features and benefits of motorhome insurance, for example motorhome rescue cover, replacement motorhome cover and policy cancellation to the replacement of gas bottles, panoramic windscreen cover and a 24-hour helpline.

When comparing foreign use cover, the Caravan and Motorhome Club Motorhome Insurance policy provides cover for tourers to drive in the EU and associated countries for the full policy period of a year or 365 days. Following an insured incident, provided a tourer’s motorhome is repaired by one of its approved repairers, subject to availability, the Caravan and Motorhome Club will provide a courtesy car whilst the motorhome is being repaired.

The Caravan and Motorhome Club’s policy provides up to £5,000 for members’ clothing and personal belongings for loss or damage caused by an insured incident. The Defaqto benchmark is £5,000. 

The Caravan and Motorhome Club also pay up to £1000 towards the cost of changing locks on a member’s motorhome if the keys, lock transmitter or entry card for a keyless entry system, are lost. Cover also includes clothing, non-permanent fixtures, fittings, and baggage up to £5,000 plus up to £150 per night for 10 nights’ overnight accommodation if the vehicle becomes unusable in an accident.

As an added incentive, to take out the Club’s Motorhome or Campervan Insurance, the Club will save members at least £25 off their current provider’s renewal premium when switching.*

In addition, the Club also offers MAYDAY UK Breakdown Cover which has members covered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year for breakdown emergencies nationwide from only £80 per year for roadside and recovery.
