The Caravan and Motorhome Club is pleased to reveal the latest instalment of its Walking Wanderers: Walk of the Month series, celebrating the simple joy of exploring on foot. This month spotlights York Rowntree Park Club Campsite in North Yorkshire, the perfect starting point for a gentle, city-meets-riverside walk taking in historic streets, green space and the scenic banks of the River Ouse.

The initiative is designed to champion the mental and physical benefits of spending time outdoors, encouraging members to lace up their walking boots and discover inspiring routes that begin right from the gates of Club campsites across the UK.

This month’s walk: A four‑mile circular walk taking in York’s historic city walls and the banks of the River Ouse

Starting directly from York Rowntree Park Club Campsite, this easy two-hour stroll offers a relaxed way to explore many of York’s best‑known sights. Perfect for walkers who enjoy pairing gentle exercise with culture and café stops, the route flows seamlessly from riverside paths to elevated viewpoints.

From the campsite, the route follows the River Ouse towards the city before climbing onto York’s iconic city walls. Walkers are rewarded with sweeping rooftop views and striking perspectives of landmarks including York Minster, the Museum and Gardens, the Shambles and the contemporary Millennium Bridge. A calm riverside stretch then leads walkers back towards the campsite, rounding off a walk that blends green space with centuries of history.

Route highlights include:

• Long, scenic sections of York’s historic city walls
• Iconic city landmarks including York Minster and the Museum and Gardens
• A peaceful riverside return beside the River Ouse
• Plenty of opportunities for lunch stops, coffee breaks or exploring the city centre at leisure
