Your expert guide will explain what archaeologists search for and how their findings reveal the lives and stories of people from long ago. You’ll even get to hold real artefacts, objects once used by people hundreds or even thousands of years ago! Uncover Pick up a trowel and dig into York’s past in four recreated pits, Roman, Viking, medieval, and Victorian. Each pit offers a chance to uncover replica artefacts. From Roman coins and Viking tools to medieval building fragments and Victorian household items, unearth clues just like a real archaeologist. Explore -Get up close to real archaeological finds and discover how they reveal York’s past. From everyday objects to rare artefacts, each tells a story of people through the centuries. Don’t miss the sensory garden—an outdoor space with plants, textures, and scents inspired by different historical periods.
