End of season disappointment.

Park Umag
Sadly cannot be as positive as other reviews as our experience has been impacted by the fact that the campsite closed for the season a few days after we arrived and although we were not the only people staying such was the layout of the sprawling campsite that it had a deserted feel to it. In so saying the toilet block/ dishwashing area we used ( one of at least 6) was always clean if a wee bit tired. There were clear signs around the campsite of lots of facilities, restaurants, shopping areas etc and some of these were still open - fortunately we didn’t need to rely on lots of amenities as we’d arrived pretty self sufficient. Pitch size was great with own water supply although surface a bit uneven and the red cllay like material used to provide a very poor hard standing surface got everywhere. Overall a well serviced site with ample facilities and amenities with bathing opportunities in sea or pool- and views are great. Not our cup of tea but can see the appeal especially for families.

Excellent site - well worth making the journey

Park Umag
Camping Park Umag is well worth the journey. Beautifully located on the shores of the Adriatic, the parks coastline stretches for over half a mile. Excellent facilities, and plenty of them, cleaned 24/7. Lovely bars and restaurants, overlooking the sea with both local and international menu choices. We like seafood and that was particularly good. Overall, much cheaper than rest of Europe and great value for money. Everyone speaks English. The coastline is rocky but not a issue - the snorkelling was superb and a popular activity for all ages. The site has a very large swimming pool too so you can choose where you swim. Umag is good size town with plenty of restaurants on sea front and large supermarkets. It is also a great base for exploring other really pretty towns including Rovinj and Porec and boat trips are an absolute must - such a pretty coastline. The site has overall WiFi coverage which was free and a lovely bonus compared to other sites where you have to pay and access is very limited. Check in to site was a bit long winded as reception is very busy - it is a huge site. Not all pitches are shaded and so need to ensure you have right equipment to provide shade. We went end of July and it was very hot, but with some cooling down overnight. We only came across 2 other British people on site, but would expect that to change now the Caravan Club have it in their brochure. The vast majority of visitors are Dutch, German and Italians. We did not mind this at all and all evening and daytime entertainment is through the medium of English. We would definitely go back to this site.
