Why stay here ...
This rustic, lakeside site is set in an ancient forest to the south west of Paris. As with many Huttopia sites, it has been designed to adapt to the surrounding environment, and pitches are set among trees and in clearings meaning there’s plenty of shade.
The site is eco-conscious and features a natural swimming pool with water that is filtered by reeds. There’s also a play area and organised family activities in the summer months, and guests can fish in the lake.
The forest location is ideal for walks and bike rides, while the town of Rambouillet with its 14th-century château and quirky toy train museum merits a visit. The cathedral at Chartres has some exquisite stained-glass windows and a celebrated labyrinth walk set into the floor, and in the opposite direction is the opulent Palace of Versailles and its extensive gardens.

We visited several sites during our stay in France & this was by far the worst. I am puzzled that it has been referenced with the Caravan Club site. The site itself is really hard to find so us not at all 'ideally placed' ( only if you want to get lost). The staff around the site ( cleaning staff & bar) are friendly. Management & the desk appear to be busy all of the time. Internet is not readily available- there is one computer that is in the reception but not really useable for private use. The site is extremely noisy, don't get me wrong I don't mind a bit of noise but not at 1am then 2am for 2 nights on the trot right outside our van apparently by local lads who use the site as a social club. When we (quite politely given the circumstances) asked them to be quiet the response was 'suck my dick'. Lovely. On leaving the site we explained the problems we had encountered with these local lads.. the reception 'didn't have time' to deal with it but 'would phone me' (they didn't). Incidentally whilst we were trying to explain the issues a woman who we didn’t know piped up that her bikes had been stolen from outside her tent... but of course the receptionist 'had never heard of such things happening before...oh . really... We won't be returning. The only silver lining was the fact that we only booked 3 nights so was very well out of it within a couple of days.

Stayed here for one night in July, very pleased it wasn't for longer. We were sited next to a small shower block and having had a long hard journey we didn't investigate further. The shower was smelly with broken tiles and even first thing in the morning, being the first to use them after they had been cleaned, there was still dirt and hair on the floor. At 6am the cleaners were very noisy. We did discover a larger and better equipped block but too late for us to use. Our pitch was small and covered with some kind of hard core, the overgrown hedging and trees further reduced the size of the pitch. In short the site was dirty, unkempt and noisy(music etc. emitting from the reception area) We hated it! The site is convenient for the motorway and well signposted if you are desperate.
I'll start with the only positive, it's useful for a stop off as convenient for motorways.
Nothing remotely rustic, just dirty, scruffy, unmaintained and VERY noisy! Despite the CC checking with the site, as we have a long van when booking, upon arrival we were told we may not be able to stay!! They tried to put us in a tiny pitch that couldn't have taken the smallest of vans we eventually found one that was big enough and one that we could actually get into. The driveways to the pitches are so narrow it is very difficult to get any van onto them. Thankfully we were only there for one night, if we had booked for longer we would have left the next morning. Very loud music blaring out from the restaurant area. Tiling in the shower trays broken and dangerous. The only 'drinking water' supply was from the sink taps in the toilet/shower hut. The pitches were covered with crushed concrete, it was like being on a building site. One of the worst sites we have ever been on.
