Why stay here ...

This small site located on the outskirts of Bologna is ideally situated for an overnight stop when travelling further south or to visit the Romanesque city of Bologna. A bus service leaves directly from inside the site and tickets can be bought at reception.

There is a small outdoor pool (bathing caps necessary) and the restaurant with its adjoining terrasse serves local Italian food. The pitches are mainly shaded and many have hard standing surfaces for the winter months.

The city of Bologna itself is charming with plenty to occupy a few days of exploration. It boasts the oldest university in Europe. Discover the medieval market, marvel at the stunning architecture around the Piazza Maggiore, the central square and wander through several kms of porticos.
For motorsport enthusiasts there is the popular Museo Ferrari in nearby Maranello.

Short stay to visit museums

Citta di Bologna
Stayed at this site for two nights specifically to visit the Ferrari museums a 30 minute drive away, the site was perfectly located to drive to these and are a lovely day out. The site itself is a little tired, particularly the shower and toilet facilities, with a few toilets out of order and closed, however kept very clean. The restaurant was fantastic quality food, the site was quiet when we visited but staff very helpful and friendly, especially the reception manager who spoke excellent French and English. Pitches are all shaded and the site very dense with trees around the pitches, which are on the small side. Nothing really in the direct vicinity of the site, had we stayed longer we would have used the inexpensive bus into Bologna directly from the site. Beware the mosquitos and ensure you have plenty of repellant. Pool is an extra charge per day to use at 10 euros a day each. Overall good for a short stay to visit the city or museums but wouldn’t stay longer.

Pleasantly surprised.

Citta di Bologna
After reading some previous reviews we were apprehensive about this site. However we have no complaints about customer service at all. Welcoming and efficient. The pitches are small and mostly in shade. Some of the long term campers could do with being asked to tidy their pitches. The washing machines and dryers had been removed, and awaiting new token operated ones. We booked a table in the restaurant and had a good experience. Tickets for the bus can be bought in reception and the bus stops there. It is a 15 min ride to Bologna which we found friendly and delightful. It is a student hub, so not full of tourist shops.

Great site for visiting Bologna

Citta di Bologna
We stayed for 2 nights at the end of September 2021. Friendly and helpful reception. The site was quiet despite being busy. Bus service from inside the site to the city centre is excellent. Not the sort of site you would want to spend weeks on but for visiting the city it’s perfect.

Shame about the surroundings

Citta di Bologna
Stayed at this site for 3 nights in June 2017, specifically to visit Bologna and the Ferrari museum. I was a little concerned on arrival - not least as the drive to the site was not through a particularly nice area (appeared to be the local red light district), the 'chalets' appeared to (in the main) have a lot of foreign workers (with their vans) staying there, and the pitches were extremely uneven with bare earth and tree roots. Luckily it was very hot and dry, any rain and the pitches could have been extremely muddy. It probably didn't help that at the time there were very few other caravaners on the site. However, the staff were friendly enough (although didn't try the restaurant) and the facilities were very clean. By the second day the place started to fill up and the whole 'feel' of the place changed for the better. The connecting bus to Bologna was excellent and punctual - which set us up for a great visit the city.

A handy site for visiting Bologna

Citta di Bologna
Spent 2 nights here in order to visit Bologna. Temperature was mid 30's - "sorry swimming pool doesn't open until 1st. June". Our first visit to Italy for many years and we had forgotten about these Italian hang ups - "naer cast a cloot till May is oot" Good bus service to Bologna City. Facilities are OK, clean and functional (not all - some locked up out of use.) We had the misfortune to be there on a Saturday night when there was some sort concert going on in the vicinity. Rubbish thumping 'music?' until 5 am. Didn't try the restaurant - smelled good. Pitches OK but leveling blocks necessary. Friendly staff who spoke good English.
