Nice well kept site

Blarney Caravan & Camping Park
Rural site near the village of Blarney. Hard standing pitches are in three areas separated by hedges. There is also a grassed area for tents and a large playing field which can be used for overspill. Pitches have a grey water outlet, water and electric. Free wifi. Sanitary facilities are well fitted out and clean. Lovely peaceful site ideally located for visiting Blarney Castle, Cork and Kinsale. We would return here.

Clean well kept site

Blarney Caravan & Camping Park
We didn't book through the club as it was cheaper booking directly with the site. The reception staff and owners were friendly and offered plenty of advice. The pitch was serviced, hard standing with enough for the caravan only with the car parked on the grass alongside. (about half the pitches were serviced and at no extra cost). The site was very big indeed with an enormous field for campers. It was well maintained and very clean. The downside was the facilities. There is only one toilet block. Sort of semi communal. In the men's side there were only three toilets and three sinks.and they were shared with those washing hands after toilet. If all sinks were in use by those washing or shaving there was no hand wash available. No privacy screens around the sinks. There were only 4 showers which were off a communal passage way and shared by men and women. There was one hair dryer in the passageway. The site was by no means full but in the mornings there were men and women waiting to use the shower. Goodness knows what it would be like if the site was full. Not really adequate for a partially occupied site. There is a 20 minute walk into town but we were advised not to walk as there is no pavement for much of the way down a busy lane. Parking in Blarney Castle is only 2 euros for the whole day. Access to Cork is easy as is a trip to Kinsale. Good site but a real shame about the facilities

Nice little site - top of hill

Blarney Caravan & Camping Park

A friendly welcome, and although Reception did not seem aware that we had pre-booked a ‘special pitch’ (serviced), they were helpful and able to offer us a choice of two. The toilet block was clean, with free showers. WiFi also free, but unfortunately wouldn’t connect at our pitch. We were only there for two nights and were glad we walked into town on the first afternoon when the weather was fine - the site is at the top of a hill and it feels like a very long walk back. If it’s a clear day, you can see Blarney Castle in the distance as you exit the site. Due to very wet and windy weather on our full day in Blarney, we didn’t get to experience the site at its best, but we did feel it was well-maintained. Although the site is a fair walk from the main amenities in Blarney, the ‘Stoneview’ restaurant is only about 100m from the site entrance. It is not the cheapest place to eat, but the food was really excellent, as was the service. We got to sit at a window with a view of Blarney Castle. The only little niggle was that when we arrived back from the restaurant, our neighbours were having a BBQ, and their guests’ two cars were both parked on (and filled) the small piece of grass that was actually our ‘living’ area (we didn’t have an awning out, or a vehicle on our pitch, other than the motorhome itself).  It didn’t matter too much as we weren’t planning on sitting outside that evening. However it is worth being aware that pitch space can be a little limited on the site - especially for units that have both awning and vehicles.

WARM WELCOME TO PRETTY SITE

Blarney Caravan & Camping Park
Blarney Caravan Park gives an immediate impression of a well-kept park with manicured hedges and lawns, obviously cared for with some pride (Photo 1). After a lovely warm welcome we were invited to select our pitch and advised that we could drive around the site to see what was available first. The pitches (gravel and grass) are not massive but adequate for car and caravan with room enough for an awning – if you don’t use guy ropes (Photo 2). Beware that there is a slight slope and you will need to have a wedge/riser for one wheel. There is bit of a distance to water and electric that has convinced me to make a purchase of new hose on a reel. There is a very small shop at reception for minor items like bread and sweets, so stocking up with supplies are essential to avoid the drive back into the town. Free Wi-Fi is available, at the pitch too although weak you are able most times to stay in touch with home and news. If needed a full strong signal is available in reception with a desk made available for this purpose. There are two toilet/shower blocks (Photo 3) that are very clean (Photo 4) with free use of showers, which are activated by push-button. The water comes in short supply bursts but I found the right rhythm to manage a constant flow of warm water to enjoy. There is both a kitchen and a TV room, along with a laundrette that through expense (Photo 5) for both washing (€5) and drying (€2) registers the only blemish to staying on the site. However that would not deter me from staying again in this lovely pleasant site when in the area again.

A bit of Blarney!

Blarney Caravan & Camping Park
Absolutely lovely site, with bags of space and level pitches. The owners were delightful, helpful and full of suggestions to make your stay more comfortable. Walk to town easy, but the half hour walk back uphill to the site was a struggle. Not really bike friendly.
