Why stay here ...

Camping La Pedera is open all year round offering a peaceful stay near the small town of Bigastro. During the summer months after a day exploring, you can relax around the pool area which also includes a shallow area for children.

The campsite has a great snack bar and restaurant offering traditional dishes everyday except Mondays in the low season. During the high season there is occasional live music entertainment. There is a playground along with an area for children to play football and basketball on site.

La Pedrera is on the edge of a natural area and only four kilometres from Embalse de la Pedrera, the biggest marsh in Alicante province and offers plenty of opportunities for walking and cycling nearby. You can also take a trip to coast which is about a 35 minute drive.

Saturday music hell.

La Pedrera
Arrived on site at 2 o’clock and was looking forward to having a cold beer then a nice dinner in the restaurant. Unfortunately the bar did not open until 5 o’clock and the restaurant was closed for the season. Luckily we had some supplies in. There is a music venue close by that played extremely loud dance music from early evening until 6 o’clock in the morning, unbelievable. We asked about it in the morning and the lady on site said she thought it was a monthly occurrence so be warned if you want a quiet Saturday. The site itself was ok with a nice swimming pool and the toilets and showers were clean but really old and in need of an update.

Peace and quiet.

La Pedrera
This being a new site to the Caravan club we didn’t book ahead and rang up a day in advance. They had a space left! I recommend you book ahead if you have a large motorhome like us. If you go for the sun then this is not the place due to shade from trees and it being on a hillside not facing the sun. The sun does shine on the site until about 5pm. Might be different in the summer. Apart from that it is a lovely little site tucked away on the outskirts of Bigastro. It is about a 20 minute walk to the centre where you will find all the shops you need. We are road bikers and this is paradise for us. You can make several loops including hills and flat. Lots of orange and lemon orchards. The beach is about an hour bike ride away. The side is very quiet and half of the pitches seem to be taken up by permanent pitches. The staff are very friendly and helpful. There is one shower-block which was fine, just make sure you take a bag with your stuff in because there are just 2 hooks. The restaurant we can’t comment on because we didn’t use it. Otherwise we enjoyed our time here.
