Peaceful site in stunning location

Lazy Rancho
The facilities on this site are fairly basic with only a small pool, tiny shop, no restaurant and small-ish washing block but don't let that put you off. It's in a superb location a 25 minute walk from Interlaken where you can do pretty much anything from bungee jumping to sky-diving – we did white water rafting which was amazing – and a similar walk to two stunning lakes (Thuner and Brienz) which are gorgeous to swim in or do watersports. The pitches weren't the biggest and it is fairly tight to manoeuvre a big motorhome into position but the views around of the surrounding mountains is stunning. It's also a very quiet site (despite being busy) with motorhomes not allowed to be driven off site once you arrive (which isn't a problem as you can walk into town or catch a bus from nearby). We only stayed 2 nights but would have liked to have stayed longer.

Busy site best avoided Peak Times, sadly awful pitch.

Lazy Rancho
We pre-booked and paid in advance in full but made the fateful error of choosing to visit in mid June. As said busy single track tarmac road with also a tight entrance for Caravans. Well oiled arrival routine and talk. Lots of seasonal & rental cabins now, only part Touring. We for sure had been allocated the very worst pitch (the side grass verge at Pot wash / toilet block) on this very very packed site. No privacy, very noisy 7am to 11pm, constant folk taking shortcuts across every way they could etc etc. We left early due to genuine family reasons, sad but somewhat relieved. NB The better family type sites in Switzerland, especially near Lakes etc are extremely popular, but will pack units onto every bit of grass verge they can and therefore do not have to tolerate any whinging.

Amazing Views

Lazy Rancho
What an amazing site. Views of the snow capped mountains are second to none. Clean, well maintained, friendly staff, nice facilities, etc.... Other reviews have said it better than me but it's the perfect site to explore the area from.

Excellent site in outstanding location! Thoroughly enjoyed our visit

Lazy Rancho
Site is clearly posted from main routes, last section of road to the site has passing places but is not a busy road. We were welcomed by Aline and Stephan, who have owned and run this site for 37 years. Their experience shows and everything runs like a well oiled Swiss clock! The site had just opened for the season but was extremely busy as it was Easter. Stephan escorted us to our level, grass pitch and helped site the caravan, he connected us to both water and electricity on our allocated pitch ( waste also on pitch) The mountain view was truly breathtaking and ever changing with the light. Magnificent! The excellent facilities are immaculately clean. Excellent fresh bread can be ordered daily at the on site shop. This site is well located for exploring Interlaken and the Bernese Oberland. Very close to both Lake Thun and Lake Brienz. Excellent base for walkers, cyclists and climbers. Paragliding is very popular with opportunities to experience this locally. Loved the sound of church bells through the valley and the sound of cow bells ( like a wind chime!) Switzerland is very expensive, the beauty of touring in our caravan( motor homes most popular here) is that you can enjoy all this beautiful area has to offer but keep within your budget by catering for ourselves. Huge thanks to Alisa and Stephan and the team at Lazy Rancho for ensuring our week long experience was wonderful. Site and facilities are beautifully maintained, new play equipment has just been installed. We would highly recommend this site.

EXTENSIVE Damage caused by their mower

Lazy Rancho

After visiting this site for the last 21 years only missing two years BUT VISITING IT TWICE A YEAR FOR ABOUT 10 YEARS we visited in 2019 with our new motorhome. After staying on the site in July and August for 3 weeks we left to go to a site in Luxembourg. That is where we noticed EXTENSIVE damage to the rear and offside of our new motorhome. There was also a trace of green and yellow paint about 600mm long transferred onto a side panel. This is when the penny dropped it must have been caused by the John Deere lawn mower at Lazy Rancho. The driver Daniel was always driving it fast and close to outfits. We had not been anywhere else that had a lawn mower on site since leaving Lazy Rancho. I contacted the owners directly who asked for pictures and dimensions of damage for them to contact their insurance company. Sent by return email. After returning home I forwarded the damage estimate of £2500.00. They immediately refused to discuss the damage any further and said no further correspondence would be entered into. They even sent me a picture of their lawn mower claiming it was black. The bull bar was black but John Deere lawn mowers are green and yellow as was theirs. WARNING AND WITH THE BENEFIT OF HINDSIGHT: CHECK FOR DAMAGE BEFORE LEAVING THE SITE. They were happy for my monies for 21 years but dropped me like a hot potato when I had a claim against them. They have visited our home and we have had meals out with them and in their home.

Response from the site

Dear Sam and Hazel,

Thank you for taking the time to review your experience with us. We have valued you both as guests for many years and we have always highly appreciated your business. We are saddened to see your review after our communications and having lead an investigation into your matter.

We have contacted our claims specialist at our business liability insurance Helvetia Versicherungen – based in 4103 Bottmingen, Switzerland to review your damage and they have conducted an investigation with the pictures you have sent us as well as the pictures and measurements of our John Deere lawn mower.  The claim has been dismissed by them as the height of the damage does not match the body or the height of the lawn mower itself, as well as the colour differences. Your damage is turquoise while the John Deere vehicle is a deep green with bright yellow.

We understand the frustration and inconvenience, but this damage has not been done by Daniel with our lawn mower on our campsite.

In case you have any further questions or concerns we would be happy to connect you with our claim specialist who lead the investigation.

We wish you lovely holidays and a happy new year

All the best
