Founded in Shenzhen, China, in 1995 by Wang Chuanfu, BYD (Build Your Dreams) initially established itself as a pioneer in rechargeable battery manufacturing. The company expanded into the automotive sector in 2003 through the acquisition of Qinchuan Automobile, launching its first self-developed car, the bestselling BYD F3, in 2005. Following a landmark investment from Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway in 2008 and a complete pivot to electric and hybrid vehicles, BYD has grown into China's dominant automaker and a global leader in clean transportation.
