Bentley Motors was founded in London on 20 January 1919.  It was established by Walter Owen Bentley who was a renowned engineer who had developed two aircraft engines in World War I.  He showed his 3-litre Bentley prototype which attracted attention at the London Motor Show in November 1919.  The company was taken over by The Rolls Royce Motor Corporation in November 1931 and in 1998 the Volkswagen Group acquired the brand and its factory based in Crewe where the company remains today. 

At the Caravan and Motorhome Club Towcar of the Year 2026 the Bentley Bentayga EWB Mulliner was awarded the Luxury Towcar Award.
