Championing tourism in Anglesey: A visit from the First Minister of Wales

On Monday, 10 August, 2026, the Caravan and Motorhome Club was honoured to host the First Minister of Wales, Rhun ap Iorwerth, at our Cae Mawr Anglesey Club campsite.  The visit was led by Emma McQuillan, our Head of Governance, alongside our site managers, Kim and Matthew Hart. The tour highlighted the unique value that Cae Mawr brings to the region, providing a tranquil, nature-focused base for walkers and outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy the island’s stunning coastline, from the shores of Traeth Bychan to the scenic beauty of Penmon Point.

The visit served as an excellent opportunity to demonstrate how our Club and its members support the local community and contribute to the vibrant Welsh tourism economy.  The conversation also turned to policy, with Emma engaging the First Minister on the proposed Visitor Levy currently being consulted on by some Welsh authorities. Representing the interests of our members, the Club emphasised the importance of ensuring that such policies remain balanced and supportive of the touring holiday sector, which plays such a significant role in visitors' experiences across Wales.  The Caravan and Motorhome Club remains committed to fostering sustainable, responsible tourism across Wales, and we look forward to continuing these important conversations with government representatives to ensure that the beauty and accessibility of Welsh campsites continue to be enjoyed by all.
