Bamford is an attractive village and popular visitor destination close to walking routes and the reservoirs. The village has a small number of local shops, a petrol station, as well as pubs and accommodation, including the well regarded and multi-award winning 'Yorkshire Bridge Inn'. There lots going on with arts events, annual sheepdog trails, carnival and a well dressing in the village. The Upper Derwent Visitor Centre is just 500 metres from the Derwent Dam and acts as a focus for the two million walkers, cyclists and tourists that make the journey into this beautiful valley each year. Cycle and mobility scooter hire, refreshments, and gift shop. Ladybower Fishery and Severn Trent Water welcome fly-fishing, rowing boats can also be hired for fishing. Nearby Bradfield has the distinction of being the largest parish in England, and stretches over into the upper Derwent valley. Bradfield actually consists of two villages. Low Bradfield continues its tradition as a farming community into the present day. High Bradfield is up on the hill, clustered around the church and the site of the old Norman castle, and overlooks Low Bradfield. It is an extremely attractive place with a fine old church, several notable old buildings, numerous cottages made of the local gritstone, together with the Old Horns public house and nearby renowned Bradfield Brewery.

The sites provided are well located but may be basic, so be prepared to use all your on board facilities. Check you have sufficient gas with you, and remember that electric hook-ups may not always be available.
