Kangaroo Island 3 Day Add-On Tour

Visiting Kangaroo Island is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for anyone who enjoys nature, native wildlife, sprawling wilderness areas, untrodden beaches and spectacular scenery that is breath-taking. It is the perfect place for a total escape to a pristine and protected environment.

Immerse yourself amid wildlife encounters at Seal Bay, captivating sculptures along Kangaroo Island’s Sculpture Trail and natural wonders such as Flinders Chase National Park on this three-day exploration, or longer if you prefer!

Day 1: Ferry to Kangaroo Island & Penneshaw – Karatta
Distance: 133 km / 83 miles

Start your Kangaroo Island adventure from Cape Jervis with a 45-minute ferry crossing to Penneshaw. On arrival, take time to stop at the nearby 1.5km Sculpture Trail featuring a collection from local and international artists.

If you travel along the island’s rugged north coast, it will reward you with the Cape Willoughby’s Conservation Park and Lighthouse – the first to be built in South Australia in 1952. There are daily guided tours of the Lightstation precinct and a Visitor Centre which has a fascinating museum reading room.

Day 2: Karatta

A leisurely drive to Flinders Chase National Park will provide an expanse of wilderness featuring iconic Remarkable Rocks - a photographer's dream with its surreal shapes and golden orange hues. The Parks entrance tickets can be purchased at the visitor centre, which also has The Rocks Café for refreshments.

At the southwest tip of the park is Cape du Couedic Lighthouse and Admirals Arch, which is home to a colony of long-nosed fur seals as well as an impressive rock arch.

Day 3: Karatta – Penneshaw & ferry to Cape Jervis
Distance: 138 km / 85 miles

On your return to Penneshaw for the ferry crossing, head to Seal Bay Conservation Park to walk on the beach with the endangered Australian Sea Lions in their resting place. Along the way, take in a bird of prey free flight show at Raptor Domain or for a bit of adventure visit Little Sahara for sandboarding. Continuing eastwards visit Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery, and Kangaroo Island Oysters in American River if you are a lover of the delicacy. Head into Penneshaw for your ferry back to the Fleurieu Peninsula.
