Day 1: Alice Springs to Uluru (Ayers Rock)

After being collected from your hotel, travel in comfort in an air-conditioned vehicle from Alice Springs to Uluru (Ayers Rock). Along the way, your friendly Driver Guide will provide informative and entertaining commentary while you pass through Australia’s rugged desert landscapes and the beautiful MacDonnell Ranges. Learn about the natural and geological history of the region, as well as the unique Australian desert flora and fauna such as the Perentie, the Thorny Devil and the Red Kangaroo.

There will be a comfort stop at a local Roadhouse before continuing through Curtin Springs Station. After arriving at Ayers Rock Resort, you will join an included tour of the amazing World Heritage-listed Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park.

This afternoon, step into Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park for an unforgettable journey of discovery. Begin at the Cultural Centre, where you’ll have time to browse the galleries and, if you’re lucky, watch local Aboriginal artists at work. Continue to the base of Uluru, where your knowledgeable guide will share the ancient Tjukurpa (creation) stories that bring this iconic monolith to life. Feel the deep spirit of the land as you walk to Mutitjulu Waterhole, with your guide interpreting the significance of ancient rock art and sacred sites along the way. As the day draws to a close, head to the Uluru Sunset Viewing Area, where you can relax with a glass of sparkling wine and watch the sun transform the rock with its ever-changing colours. You’ll return to Ayers Rock Resort approximately 30 minutes after sunset.

Day 2: Kata Tjuta

This morning, we will travel to the magnificent Kata Tjuta (The Olgas). Along the way, pause at a dune viewing platform to take in sweeping views of the southern side of these striking domes before continuing to Walpa Gorge. Explore the gorge and its unique rock formations as you follow the 1.3 km walking trail that winds between two of Kata Tjuta’s tallest domes. Return to your hotel, where the afternoon is yours to relax at leisure or enhance your experience with an optional activity, such as a scenic helicopter flight, the Sounds of Silence Dinner, or Wintjiri Wiru (additional cost applies).

Day 3: Uluru to Kings Canyon

This morning, enjoy Bruce Munro’s breathtaking Field of Light art installation at sunrise. Stroll through the illuminated pathways at a leisurely pace and immerse yourself in this extraordinary experience as the desert comes to life. Then, from the sand dunes watch the sun rise over the majestic Uluru.

Continue your journey through the stunning desert landscapes passing Curtin Springs Station and taking in views of Atila (Mt. Conner). Along the way, your Driver Guide will share fascinating insights into the history of the surrounding cattle stations. Keep an eye out for wild horses and camels as you travel.

Arrive at Kings Canyon Resort where you will have an overnight’s stay. Take time to unwind before witnessing a spectacular outback sunset. During peak travel months, drinks are available for purchase at the sunset viewing area. After dinner, experience Bruce Munro’s second captivating art installation, Light Towers at Night.

Day 4: Kings Canyon to Alice Springs

An early rise to embark on a rocky climb to the canyon rim where you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking sunrise views over Watarrka National Park. Follow the rim trail, pausing at lookout points to gaze down into the canyon’s dramatic gorge. If time allows, you may choose to descend into the lush green oasis known as the ‘Garden of Eden’. The full circuit walk takes around 3 hours and includes steep, rocky sections, making it best suited for those with a good level of fitness. Alternatively, you may opt for a shorter, easier walk to explore the boulder-strewn canyon floor.

After your walk, board your coach for our return journey to Alice Springs. Along the way, stop at Erldunda, a quintessential Northern Territory roadhouse located at the junction of the Stuart and Lasseter Highways, before continuing along the Stuart Highway to Alice Springs.
