Downtown Calgary features all the attractions of a major city - shopping, fine dining, museums and non-stop entertainment. The nearby neighbourhoods each have their own unique charm, filled with boutiques, breweries and public art. Two major rivers, the Bow and Elbow, wind through the city, enriching its parks and the lives of Calgary’s residents.

Days 3-5: Banff

The drive from Calgary offers a smooth and scenic journey, taking you from open prairies to rolling foothills, and finally into the breathtaking Canadian Rocky Mountains. As you approach the Rockies, the foothills signal the transition to the towering peaks ahead. Along the route, you will pass through Canmore, a charming town just 7 km (4 mi) east of Banff National Park. Canmore, which hosted the Nordic events of the 1988 Winter Olympics, also serves as an important wildlife corridor for animals like deer, elk, moose, bears, wolves and cougars.

As Canada’s oldest, Banff National Park is famed for its awe-inspiring mountain vistas and dramatic peaks. Spend the day discovering its wonders. Ride the gondola to the top of Sulphur Mountain for panoramic views, unwind in the hot springs and stroll down Banff Avenue to explore the local shops. Be sure to visit Two Jack Lake and the picturesque shores of Lake Minnewanka.

Today, you will journey through Mount Robson Provincial Park, home to the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. Mount Robson’s jagged, snow-capped summit rises 3,954 metres above a vast, untouched wilderness.

Clearwater offers easy access to Wells Gray Provincial Park, often called the ‘Waterfall Park’ for its stunning collection of waterfalls. Wildlife is abundant here, so keep an eye out for black bears, grizzlies, timber wolves and coyotes as you explore this remarkable area.
