Slough Certificated Locations

Slough is an ethnically diverse town in Berkshire that is best known for being the setting for the BBC TV sitcom The Office. As well as being home to Europe’s biggest trading estate, it has plenty of hidden gems to discover.

It certainly proved inspirational for the poet Thomas Gray, who conceived the idea for his Elegy Written in a Country Churchyard at St Giles Church in Slough.

Just down the road, the instantly recognisable train station was built in the elegant French Renaissance style, complete with ornate roof and mounted clock face.

On platform five, perfectly preserved behind glass, is Station Jim. In life, this dog was a canine collector, who raised large sums of money for the Great Western Railway’s Widows’ and Orphans’ Fund during the 1890s.
