Why stay here ...

Christopher and Patricia welcome you to "Down on the Farm" CL. The location is ideal for those wishing to explore the Cheshire countryside by foot or by bicycle. Within the area there is an abundance of wildlife including owls, buzzards and many more. In the village of Kingsley (0.3 mile) there is a Co-op and a local pub. Walking distance from the CL is the Kingsley Mill Cafe.

Frodsham, Chester Zoo and Chester are a short drive away. The Delamere Forest and local fisheries are also close at hand. For those members who enjoy horse riding, the CL has stables available for members to use. This may incur a small fee.

As this is a working farm, Christoper and Patricia are more than happy to provide guided tours of the farm showing the different farm animals and activities that may be of interest, especially for the children. For 2021 it is hoped that the play and toy garden will be open as well as the new toilet block, pets corner and BBQ. There is a dog run available.

Definitely recommend for families

We’ve just stayed for 3 nights at this lovely little gem of a site. The owners and their wider family are extremely attentive and go well out of their way to make you feel welcome. The kids absolutely loved grooming the ponies and they were even treated to a little ride (the owner spent around an hour grooming and racking up the horses, just to give the kids a ride!). We all loved the farm tour, which lasted around an hour, and informed us about the history, and running of the farm. My kids absolutely loved this place, we saw a baby calf being born, they’ve petted pigs, cows, horses, ginuea pigs, rabbits, you name it!! Free fresh eggs on arrival, we will definitely be back.

A lovely spot for an Autumn break

We've just spent 3 nights at this lovely little site. We were met by Christopher on his tractor who kindly suggested we park the 'van next to the hardstanding area. This made a huge difference of keeping the floors clean. The gift of half a dozen eggs and a useful welcome letter was a really nice touch. Patricia met us later and gave us some good ideas for walks nearby. It's a really handy spot to explore local places such as Delamere Forest, which is in walking distance, and the Anderton Boat Lift is just a short drive. Both are great for dog walking which is a must for us. The local village has a well stocked Co-op / Post Office and a pub. We can definitely recommend the site, although we did almost drive past as there isn't a CL sign up yet, so you need to be on the look out for the entrance.

Open friendly site

We were made very welcome by Chris and Patricia and were delighted to receive a gift of 6 freshly laid eggs. The field was large, mainly flat and well mown with easy access to water and waste disposal. There were plenty of animals to see and we enjoyed a free farm tour including the opportunity to stroke some of the animals and hold a cockerel. The owners were very attentive and helpful throughout. We discovered some interesting walks from the site including down to the river and also enjoyed nearby Delamere Forest. The approach road was rather narrow but otherwise this is a lovely CL and well worth staying on.
