Relaxing and comfortable haven

Cameo Adult CL
Third time to this lovely welcoming cl. It feels like coming home to arrive here and be greeted by Annette and Laurence. Access to the site is good. Look out for the flags. You are greeted at the gate by both Annette and Laurence armed with lots of information and loads of hospitality. Being guided to the pitch and helped to site in position by Laurence is a big help. The pitches are level side to side. Sometimes blocks are needed for front to back levelling but not on every pitch. We always use pitch 1. Although closest to the road we prefer it for ease of toilet emptying. Yes the road is very busy and noisy at times but it doesn’t spoil the beauty of this site. Having serviced pitches and free reliable WiFi is a big bonus. There is a toilet and washroom available if needed although we tend to use our own facilities. The antics of the animals in the paddock keep you amused. Wildlife is encouraged with bird feeders etc. We enjoyed watching the rabbits and squirrels. We plan to return next season again and again. Thanks to Annette and Laurence for creating this little haven.

'Herded'

Cameo Adult CL
Arrived for a weekend just behind another on a Friday afternoon. Hot & tired we waited on the main & very fast A50 for the 1st arrival to gain access through the gate. Following them in we gained access to the field & joined the other 5 Van's (plus motorhome on the driveway) to make a total of 7! We were 'not allowed' to use our motor mover to put the van in position, as it ' non pneumatic jockey whee tyres tare up the grass.....who has a pneumatic tyre there days!!! so we were 'herded' into position with 'helpful' military style left hand down/right hand down etc. onto the pitch, I would have preferred to take my time as usual and work at my own pace. The A50 was extremely busy all weekend day & night which was unfortunate. I'm sure Lewis Hamilton & Max Verstappen were training on the road that weekend along with Valentio Rossi & all his friends. The services on the pitches are great. The toilet is very clean (although the walk through the dog exercise area, around the tractors & past the static caravan arnt the best) It would also be better if the Van's faced the other way over the adjoining field & not across to the side of the property. I dont appreciate being hearded or told 'if you let me finish' especially when I'm hot and have just had a testing drive on Friday afternoon. Maybe I am too precious. I wont return and neither will anyone else I know. I can only hope others have a better experience.

Just a little lacking

Cameo Adult CL
Our hosts were on hand to meet us on arrival and helpfully saw us onto our pitch. The information pack given out was plentiful and site rules very clear. A lot of thought had been given to the design of the level pitch and there were many very nice touches - such as flowers, trees, fire-pit and wood, BBQ, picnic bench and dog tie ring - all for personal use on each pitch. There were some nicely laid out additional seating areas adjacent to the small paddock There were a few downsides which we experienced, others may not have had a problem. The road bordering the CL was very busy at all times of day and night, if you aren't accustomed to road noise this is quite intrusive. Emptying toilet waste we found to be a little challenging due to raised steps and platform. Careful note should be taken that if you stay and have local family visit on site, that is acceptable but they cannot use the toilet facility. The site was advertised as dog friendly and additionally boasted an exercise area complete with agility equipment. However on arrival we were told that the agility equipment had recently been taken away. This was disappointing as we would have used this during our stay. However, the secure fenced area for dog exercise remained and was very useful. Apart that is from 1 caravan that had been pitched within the exercise area - which meant that care had to be taken to keep a lively young dog away from the elderly occupants. Long grass remained wet and could have been shorter for general ease. Heading to the toilet facility meant accessing via the dog exercise area and the long wet grass; the 2 gates would not have been an issue if both gates had opened easily, rather than 1 which dragged and was compromised by nettles. We were there for 5 nights seeing local family. Overall this was a positive stay, some of the issues we had could easily have been sorted, so maybe we were just unlucky with our timing.

A bit disappointed

Cameo Adult CL
We stayed here overnight en route to France. Laurence and his wife were very welcoming and had lots of information available to us. Laurence recommended a fabulous fish and chip shop, Top of the Hill Chippy. We normally use the other one. The site was pretty but, unfortunately, the ground was very wet and the trip to the toilet was through a wet field and involved opening two gates. The ground was very muddy and it was not well lit in the evening. The toilet itself has a plug in air freshener which was extremely overpowering and the place could have been cleaner (maybe I’m too fussy). Although it wasn’t the worst cl we have stayed on we wouldn’t return due to loud road noise (which can’t be helped).

Fabulous site

Cameo Adult CL
I stayed for one night here as a stop off and would highly recommend it. Everything from the booking, to the arrival and the facilities were just about spot on. As a woman travelling alone I felt quite safe here and Annette was very kind and helpful with information and helping to pitch up. The only slight down side was the traffic noise but it was quiet and peaceful at night. It was very convenient for the motorway and super easy to find. Well done to the owners who have clearly worked hard to set this place up without over manicuring it. Thank you.
