Lovely off grid CL

Longriggthorn
Really enjoyed our stay here.(5 nights in total) in early September. Very friendly farmer & a super quiet location. The Hadrians Wall path is easily accessed from here but not much actual wall bits to see! (closest bit at Hare Hill). Some local footpaths away from the well walked and well maintained Hadrians Wall path are quite overgrown also quite a few of these footpaths have cows running with their calves in fields and also very inquisitive and boisterous bullocks so care and sense needed when walking through these fields (particularly if you have a dog) Would recommend a visit to the nearby Solway Aviation museum. No shop nearby for provisions so come stocked up. £8 pn-this CL on the return list for sure.

A great example of a CL

Longriggthorn
After touring Cumbria and Dumfries and Galloway we wanted a quiet no fuss peaceful park up for a few nights before heading home. What a great rural CL this is, exceptionally quiet with basic facilities, tap and chem dispoasal point. Lovely walks around the area and opportunity to walk on Hadrians wall. Nice cycle rides around and a lovely pub called The Sally at Irthington which is a couple of miles away but easilly walkable, (we cycled). I wasnt going to leave a review as I want it to stay quiet but credit where its due, the owners are lovely and if you just want a field with easy access and basic facilities, its perfect. The site is 1 hr from home so will be our fist stop off point when leaving and last stop before heading home. We are new to The CAMC and can only hope that other CL's are as good as this one.

Quiet and Peaceful Site

Longriggthorn
We stayed 5 nights at Longriggthorn during our walking of Hadrian’s Wall. We had it to ourselves for the whole time! The site is accessed down a lane, but it’s mostly straight with places to pass other vehicles. A lovely mown grass site surrounded by hedges and some trees. A quick walk round the site to find the water point and the toilet disposal point (behind a hedge in the corner). No swarms of flies in July and it was very warm. Chris, the owner is very friendly and helpful. Brampton is a few minutes drive away for essentials and eating places. Hadrian’s wall is less than a mile away. If you are looking for a quiet and peaceful site away from it all then this is a great place.

Lovely quiet field with plenty of wild flowers

Longriggthorn
Welcomed as we arrived as friendly owner cutting the grass. Good views, trees and hedges but open aspect. Toilet emptying in top left hand corner as you enter, near style. Not obvious as hidden behind hedge. No swarms of flies at end of May. Very quiet. Part sloping, we did not need ramps. Now £7, still good value compared with similar sites.

Quiet peaceful site

Longriggthorn
Friendly welcome from the owners on arrival. Wide access gate and plenty of space in the field. Could be difficult to manoeuvre in wet conditions. It was very quiet and peaceful all the time we were there and we had no problem with flies in mid July. We did a good circular walk from the site which took us along some of the Hadrian’s Wall path. Don’t use post code to find this site, it takes you some distance away.
