Why stay here ...

Lakeside Meadow is a beautiful grassed 5 acre site, with its own lake (no fishing). It is approached from the road by a gated access onto a private drive. The driveway extends behind each pitch (with the exception of pitch 1) allowing you to drive straight onto your allocated pitch. Each pitch is hardstanding and has its own EHU and water supply along with a grey waste disposal point. There is an undercover chemical waste disposal and bin area.

We have our main lake along with 3 smaller ponds, bridges and views out over the beautiful Derbyshire countryside. Dogs are welcome. We do ask that they are kept on a lead at all times whilst on site and please clean up after them.

There are 2 local pubs within a mile of Lakeside, both are excellent, serving food and drinks. The Yew Tree is in Ednaston village and the Red Lion in Hollington village, which is located by turning left out of Lakeside Meadow. The Saracens Head, in the neighbouring village of Shirley is renowned for it's wonderful menu and cuisine.

The village of Brailsford with it's post office, village shop, cafes and pub along with a number of quirky independent shops located at Saracens Head Yard, is 2 miles away.

The picturesque town of Ashbourne is just 6 miles away, with its winding cobbled streets, market place and Tudor & Georgian heritage, along with more than 200 listed buildings. Browse the many antique shops, designer fashion stores and individual retailers, before enjoying a well deserved coffee, lunch or afternoon tea in one of the many cafes and tea rooms. Or maybe enjoy a drink or 2 in the local pubs or wine bar.

Ashbourne is known as The Gateway to Dovedale, home to the iconic stepping stones and part of the Peak District National Park. Britain's first park, formed in 1951.

If the bright lights of the city are more your thing, the City of Derby is just 10 miles away, the UK's most central city. Here you will find a large Intu shopping centre with all the usual retailers you would expect. Or you can explore the Cathedral quarter and enjoy the numerous independent shops and see Derby's Gothic cathedral. Or maybe pay a visit to the Derby Brewing Company. Derby is home to many, many small pubs and micropubs.

After all your exploring, return to Lakeside Meadow to enjoy the peace and tranquility of the Derbyshire countryside.

One of the most beautiful CLs yet....

Lakeside Meadow
5 lovely hard standing pitches each with beautiful views out onto the lake and grass. Each pitch has its own picnic table as well as fresh water, soak away and electric if you need it... despite the British summer not being great, it still gave enough sunshine to charge our solar panels so we didn't plug in at all. The site is well maintained with footpaths in all directions if you enjoy walking and running like we do. Access to the site is excellent - we are a 8.5m long and 7.2 tonne motorhome and didn't have any problems with low hanging trees or size of pitch. We tried out the Red Lion Pub which is a mile away and can vouch for the food being pretty good - three of us had different pies (including one veggie), and one lasagne, followed by generous and tasty portions of brownie and trifle to follow.... all of which were excellent. Thank you Jill and Tim, we will be back again!

Superb site!

Lakeside Meadow
What an absolute gem of a site! Easy to find, great access, well run, beautiful views over the lake, two pubs within a mile to the left and right of the exit, what more could you ask for! Fully serviced and a very clean area in a shed for your waste. Can't wait to return if we can get in.

Perfection!

Lakeside Meadow
Stayed for 5 nights in early September and immediately booked for 10 days for next year. Without doubt, the best CL we have stayed at. The 5 pitches are all hardstanding made from compressed limestone scalpings and level with a grid area for the awning. 16A mains and fresh water to each pitch and a soakaway drain for grey water. It is arranged so that you park your caravan front in, which gives a view over the lake, so a motor mover is helpful. There is a wooden building that houses a toilet pan that is used to empty toilet waste. It is kept clean and tidy. This also contains the rubbish bins. One helpful point is that all waste goes in together and the waste contractor sorts out the recycling, claiming a zero to landfill policy. The site is set in a huge meadow with a large lake, all manicured grass, more like a garden than a meadow with a mix of trees providing both shade and privacy. The location is about half way between Derby and Ashbourne and easily approached from the main road, although it is better to follow the road to the business park as the road through the village is narrow. It is well suited for all the attractions in the southern part of the Peak District, not too far for the entire Peak District and also for the attractions around Staffordshire. Quite often when staying at CLs, we think we might want to come back. this is the first one where we have actually booked for the following year before leaving.

What a gorgeous site, but..............

Lakeside Meadow
We were stopping over the road at the owners other site, Heritage Wood, and decided to take look at this site and were so impressed that we immediately asked if we could move to it. The entire site is in superb condition, with level, hard standing pitches, immaculate closely mown and wide open reaches of lawn that was in impeccable condition and as for the bird life it was a real eye opener watching so many hedgerow birds that are so rapidly disappearing from so many other areas of our Country. As an ex site owner over in France, I just wish the space between each pitch had been made further apart. We will be going back again and we have told all of our friends about this little immaculate gem of a site.

This site lives up to its description

Lakeside Meadow
Just had 3 nights here and would definitely go again. An excellent and well tended quiet site. I can see us visiting all year round.
