Quiet and tranquil site

The Gables
Just want to say a big thankyou to Lorraine and Tony, who made us feel very welcome. The site has good access, so dont be put off by the little lane in, we are a 8m motorhome and it was a breeze, but please be respectful of the farm animals, as they will come right up to you, which was lovely. Do follow Lorraines instructions because if you come in from the wrong direction you wont get under the bridge, unless you are low and car size. No road noise, just birds, and a nice view at the end of the site. We stayed for 9 nights and didnt want to leave. The walks within 1 hours drive are varied and vast, pretty villages and places to see, keeps bringing us back to the Ashbourne area. Good chip shop - Queens in Ashbourne, but beware portions are huge. Your pitch fee has some electric hook up built in and despite running a big fridge freezer, hot water, lights etc we didnt need to pay any extra. In colder months, you may run up a small fee, but the pitch price is really reasonable for what you get so, I would be happy to pay this and I feel this is a very fair system. We would love to come back to this site as its ticks all of our requirements. Thank you again, from Beagles on wheels and the camping cat.

Peaceful and Tranquil

The Gables
We visited this beautiful fully-serviced site in June 2024 for the second time this year. We can highly recommend the site with friendly hosts,a peaceful setting ,loads to do in the Peak District and a great enclosed paddock for the dogs to run free. We will certainly visit again soon ! An excellent CL site Peter and Marie

Fully serviced pitches at a lovely location.

The Gables
We had a welcome from Tony and Lorraine upon arrival who made sure we were settled in and aware of the metered electric. Each pitch has its own tap and grey water disposal on a hard standing. The added benefit of the Gables was the enclosed dog paddock where our greyhound was able to trot around. Lorraine provided details of local information should we have required places to visit . We made a visit to Tissington to see the Well Dressings , recommend at the correct time of year. This is certainly a CL that we would visit again as we had an enjoyable stay. Dave & Vi

Tranquil with helpful hosts

The Gables
We spent 3 nights on this fully serviced, hard standing CL site. The hosts were excellent, providing clear directions beforehand by email and a list of local amenities. They were also extremely helpful when we got a flat tyre with recommendations for local garages. The site is well located for Ashbourne and local cycling routes. Highly recommended and will be visiting again.
