Would not recommend

We phoned to say that we would be late arriving as we had been stuck in traffic and the owner was very nice and said to just pitch up and rest and they would catch up with us in the morning. As we had sent the whole pitch fee for 10 nights prior to our arrival, there was no issue with paying. That was the last time we spoke to the owners as we never saw them the whole of the 10 days. The pitches are hard standing but quite tight for turning in and out, you have to go on the grass to turn and as it had been raining it was extremely wet. Luckily for us we have a motor mover so we managed to stay on the track. The toilet and shower are in unusual cabins and were never cleaned judging by the cobwebs full of dust and dead insects everywhere. You need to take your own toilet roll and towel as they are not provided. The shower needs a token from the house so we used our own. The bar and restaurant were closed. There are 5 Alpacas wandering around but they ran as soon as you went near them. They are probably the reason you have to drive through a gate and close it after you which was a pain. All in all, we would not recommend this C.L. We have stayed in C.L.s all over the country for many years and this one lets the caravan club down.

Disappointed

Admittedly it was raining but there was no one to welcome us and we were dismayed to find the pitches were very tight to get into, little room to manoeuvre. Nobody ever appeared, other than the five llamas which are quite sweet. You need a token for the shower, but reception was closed. The site is situated in a sloping field, though the pitches are level. There are no views and no walks from the site. We left the next morning and won’t be returning. It may be very nice in summer, if you like feeling enclosed and have a car so you can use it as a base.

We had a lovely stay!

Probably best to ignore the earlier negative reviews of this site, as it has obviously improved over the years. Nice level hardstanding pitches cut into a grassy hill. Grass areas between pitches was cut short and picnic benches provided on four of the pitches. Very peaceful, the alpacas were cute! Didn't notice their droppings anywhere really, unlike previous reviewer. Also, water tap is next to pitches and not halfway up a hill as previously stated. Facilities were very good, though no hand soap provided in the toilet and just a filthy, smelly towel to dry hands on. I would have given 5 stars otherwise, but really think for £15 a night, not providing some basic soap (Aldi - 4 bars for £1) and paper towels is a bit penny pinching. Shower costs a quid but gave six good minutes of hot water so easily enough for two people to shower if you make haste. Overall, great location, lovely site, enjoyed it.

Well we enjoyed our stay

I was cautious of the previous reviews, but arrived 22/2/19 for two nights as we needed hardstandings for our 7.2m motorhome. I really don't understand what the problem was. The pitches suited a motorhome, I used pitch 5 and sat back to enjoy the views of the woods, lakes and Alpacas. The shower and toilet block was in fact a pair of converted camping pods, all very plush and quirky. We thought the converted double decker bus in its own enclosure was also novel and may consider booking that another time. Had no problem arranging to pay, asked to meet in the bar that evening. The hotel and restaurant does not impact on the site, we enjoyed our stay and will return again.

A relaxing stay

We visited this site with friends and were surprised about the previous negative reviews. Reception was closed when we arrived so we phoned and were told to make ourselves at home which we did and pay later when it opened. When we met the owners they were very helpful. We both had motorhomes and found the pitches were fine and the toilet was clean. The alpacas were inquisitive but kept their distance and kept our dogs amused. We would both certainly return in the future. We were an adult only party.
