Nice view but spoilt by noisy neighbours

We stayed here for several nights in July/Aug. View across fields to woods is pleasant, and there is a good short circular walk around nearby Emer Bog and Baddesley Common. The grass pitches have a substantial slope - ok for caravans but difficult for motorhomes to get level. The hardstanding area is suitable for a maximum of 3 vans, not 5 as mentioned in an earlier review. It also slopes but to a lesser degree than the grass pitches. This hardstanding is also right against a fence with the neighbours from hell - kids shouting/screaming, careering around on quad bikes or similarly noisy mini-tractor, everything these neighbours do is noisy! Oh, and shooting - which turned our dog into a nervous wreck. Would not return unless neighbours had left.

Excellent site for the money

We stayed here just after new year so wanted hardstanding which was fine and could accommodate 5 vans. We have a 30ft motorhome so it was perfect for the size. The owners and couple managing the site were all very friendly and helpful. We had a space overlooking fields with horses in it so it was lovely and very peaceful. As we had no car we did walk up the nearby road which takes about 10 mins to the nearest shops, pub and bus stop that we used numerous times into Southampton. The road for a third of the way has no pavement so take a torch if walking in the dark. Overall very good value and wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Sunny stop off

I agree with the last 5 reviews posted here and we very much enjoyed our three night stay here. However, the hard standing area must have been extended since J and P Green's report because you could easilly park 3 outfits on the current area. Two motorhomes where using it when we arrived but with a dry weekend forecast we chose to park on what we thought a nicer area on the grass. Unfortunately the grass area is sloping and while this gives excellent views over the fields and countryside, for a motorhome it is not easy to level the outfit on a sloping and undulating service. We could not have managed it without our hydraulic leveling system. This is a CL we would definitely use again. Wincehester is a wonderful city to visit and at the time of our visit Hillier Gardens but a short drive away was a delight to behold.

Lovely views

We are new to caravanning so actually this was only the 2nd site we had ever stayed on so Ive not much to compare it too but I cant imagine you would want much else. We were travelling back from Grantham where we had collected our new van from and wanted somewhere not too far from home. Only did a one night stay. Lovely views and very quiet. met some really nice other caravanners and Peter was a great host.

A very pleasant stay.

We stayed for just one night and really enjoyed it, very well maintained with lovely views, we would visit again. Our dogs enjoyed a really good walk in the nearby wood.
