Why stay here ...

Waterwells Farm CL is conveniently situated on the edge of Colden Common Village which is surrounded by the Hampshire Countryside.

Our grass pitches are situated in a flat 0.5 acre paddock, having 10 amp electric hook-ups, with views over the open countryside. There are also some hardstanding in the paddock for use during wet weather, which has electric hook-ups.

There are several footpaths around the Colden Common area for short or longer walks, including one of approximately 5 miles to Winchester along the River Itchen.

Public houses in the village all serve a good variety of food, and a local Co-op next to the community centre has papers and groceries, all are within walking distance from the CL.

There is a bus stop for the Winchester bus on Church Lane about 100 metres from the CL. There is also a bus to Eastleigh which can be caught further along the lane.

The historic cities of Portsmouth, Southampton and Winchester are all easily accessible by road, and have Park and Ride facilities for visitors (Portsmouth & Winchester can take Motorhomes). If you are travelling to the Isle of Wight, the ferry terminal at Southampton is about 30 minutes away. Or if you are travelling to Europe, the ferry teminal at Portsmouth is about 45 minutes away.

Colden Common is close to the South Downs National Park and just a short drive from the New Forest National Park with their many attractions. There are National Trust Houses, Museums and many other attractions in our area for which we have information leaflets in our Tourist Information room on the CL.

Please note: Electric car charging is not available at this CL.

A very pleasant site.

Waterwells Farm
A very pleasant site with good views over the fields to the south. There is bus stop 100 yards away, making a visit to Winchester very easy. The site is very clean, tidy and has excellent facilities for waste disposal. However, the fresh water tap is very slow and the low amperage electricity annoying, as only one appliance at a time can be run. We had a lot of rain during our visit and elected to park our motorhome on the gravel, which was a good decision. There is a Coop, pharmacy and a couple of pubs in walking distance and we can recommend The Brambridge Arms. We stayed on a Friday night and there was constant loud noise from some sort of outdoor music event, so beware of that if you decide to book. If we were to be in the area again we would revisit, but not on a Friday night!

Really wanted to keep secret!

Waterwells Farm
We really dont want to leave a review as we want to keep it a secret as such a gem of a site. Have been to this CL many times and look forward to returning everytime. The site is level and well maintained, it is clean and overlooks countryside. We have stayed in the spring where upon most sites have been shut due to flooding, but we have been on hard standing with an awning here. In the summer we have been on grass, and the picnic benches are a bonus. Electric points, and facilities are good, well maintained and clean. Dogs are also allowed on leads and there is a big park not too far or a little walk off site to exercise them. Local attractions are easy to reach of Winchester and Southampton, and a few National Trust properties are easy to reach. I would have no hesitation recommending this site for both the owners welcoming hospitality, the location and the CL itself. Oh yes and easy access to the ferry terminals for the Isle of Wight. Local shops are Co-op - walkable Local Pubs Bambridge Arms - walkable

Good CL, Handy for Winchester

Waterwells Farm
The approach is deceptive as you enter a residential area and turn into the front drive of a private house. Once through the gates into the field, though, the view opens up onto outbuildings, paddocks and trees. The site is well maintained, with mown grass, plentiful EHU points, picnic tables and a tidy area for black and grey waste disposal, bins and drinking water. Although the facilities are basic, this is reflected in a reasonable price. The owners are friendly and the locality pleasant enough, if unremarkable. All in all, everything was perfectly satisfactory without leaving any lasting impression.

Nice CL

Waterwells Farm
Warm welcome and very easy access. It was very wet but we parked on a nice flat hard standing overlooking the horse field. The owner was very accommodating as we booked lastFacilities extremely clean and well organised. Gate locked overnight. Some road noise and occasional aircraft but didn't bother us. Local Co-op in walking distance. We only stayed one night so didn't check out pub or takeaway. Very reasonably priced. We will return.

Lovely stay on way home from Devon and Cornwall.

Waterwells Farm
Stayed for 3 nights on our return from touring Devon and Cornwall as really convenient stopping point on our journey back to Essex as so close to the motorway. The CL is accessed from the main road with lots of houses and it looks like you are just driving into someones drive, but when you drive in you come out into a lovely big field overlooking fields with its own pony. Large pitches divided by posts so easy to drive in and position your caravan and awning. NB site gate is locked at night (10pm) so do let the owner know if you are leaving or arriving early/late. Cycled down to the Miller and Carter (5mins) on our first night, where we had a lovely cider overlooking the lake watching the swans and ducks. Visited Montifont (NT) and cycled through the forest to Toby carvery (unfortunately no walk-ins anymore, so you need to book) and we ended up with a Meal deal from Tesco Express.
