Peaceful well kept small CL

Just had a week at this terrific peaceful, well kept CL in Bolton-le-sands called Freshfields. Thank you David Wraith for the recommendation. Owners Janet and Brian could not have been more helpful and informative. Yes it is a little hairy on the road to the site and yes there is no toilet or shower but that did not matter. Weather was excellent which obviously helped. Would definitely stay there again but not a bank holiday next time.

Disappointed

I always read other peoples reviews before I book a C/L and could only find a scant review of the Train tracks less than 1/4 ml away, the continual thunder of Trains every 15min from 5.00 am till 11.00 pm is noticed. We are ok with some traffic noise as we live on a main road. I always book C/L's and expect to be on the C/L however we are glad we weren't located on site. We arrived at this C/L to find 5 vans already on closely spaced pitches and one in the private Garden, we were asked to pitch up on the gravel close to a 2.1mtr hedge and the owners garage making 7 vans around there gardens changing only slightly as people left and arrived , we were lucky as it rained for 2 of the 3 nights we were there. The site was well kept and the water and recycling facilities were good, however the toilet waste had no lid and anyone infirm would have difficulty turning the tap on. Motorhomes towing a small car are charged the extra car fee as we were. The day before we left a caravan was pitched up behind the hedge within 3mts of us making 8, we noticed as we packed to leave next day. In conclusion while the C/L is convenient it compact and the owner wants to get the maximum potential revenue from the C/L. We will not return to this C/L.

Excellent choice for Morecambe Bay

Excellent site, great location for us to explore Morecambe Bay. Clean, well kept. Having seen other options in the area would definately reccomend. No sea view but Shore footpath very close. We are cyclists so made the best of Bay Cycle Route & canal tow path to Lancaster. Also walked the Shore in both directions, an adventure. Glad we visited Morecambe for the obligatory photo opportunity !! We had the best fish & chips for a long time at Bay Cafe. Also had coffee at the local Garden Centre near site and 15 minute walk from site a fabulous meal at the canal side pub The Royal - labelled as in The Roval on map issued from the site, lication also askew but Google put us right.

Friendly site convenient for Heysham ferry

Stayed one night in April on route to Isle of Man via Heysham ferry. Friendly welcome from the owner, level well kept site, like staying on the lawn! With concrete slab strips if its a bit damp. 2 minute walk from the coastline with lovely sunset over the bay. Less than half hour cycle into Morecambe. Not far from local shops and eateries if you require. Would stay again if in the area.
