Excellent location

Long Barn CL
We stayed here for three nights in our motorhome at the beginning of July. Yes, it is basic but the facilities are good and it is very quiet and sheltered. Having stayed at a few sites with stunning views plus high winds this year, it was quite a relief! We were happy with the pitch size and did not have to use levelling blocks. We did have trouble finding the path through the site to the cycle path/walkway, so my advice would be to ask Roger or Sarah, who are very friendly and keen to help, though you might not see them the minute you arrive. Having found the path, we did a great walk on footpaths taking in the canal towpath, ending up at Glasson Dock and buying some lovely smoked cheese in the Smokehouse. On our second day we cycled to Lancaster and then on to Morecambe Bay, all on traffic free cycle paths, a real treat and a lovely ride (about 16 miles round trip). We would definitely use this site again, being happy to be off grid and use 'own san' but there is a small camp site with hook ups and shower block nearby. We also appreciated the Garden Centre on site with its excellent cafe.

Fab and friendly CL site

Long Barn CL
I stayed on and off for several weeks during the summer but I have just worked out how to leave a review! I got a very friendly welcome from Roger. Good sized flat pitch. I loved the quiet location and the beautiful wooded surroundings with basic facilities. Excellent cycle routes into Lancaster and Morecambe. I also did lots of walks to Glasson Docks and Cockersand lighthouse over the fields. Garden centre cafe nearby serves excellent food and good shop. I saw Deer, Hares and pheasants. It was peaceful and good value for money I would highly recommend it as a CL site.

Needs some TLC

Long Barn CL
Arrived at this CL and phoned owner to advise. Didnt see him till leaving as decided to leave a day early. This could be lovely with a bit of maintenance and TLC. The pitches and driveway were full of weeds and need maintenance . We had to use levelling blocks. £12 is expensive for a site with no electric or grey water emptying point. No view and not really Motorhome friendly. Pitch sizes are ok but if you had a car parked on your grass, you couldnt fit an awning without being very close to the neighbours. Apparently there is a path down to the cycle route but no signs telling you this. It was very quiet at night, not even an owl, so if your wanting that its good. They have another caravan site with showers electric etc in the opposite field, which looks better but lots of work digging up land to fit a septic tank was going on in the middle of it ( not peaceful for those campers). The CL looks like the poor relation....... Did part of the coastal walk which is nice and the cycle path is very good. We had planned to stay for 2 nights but only did 1 and moved on.

Bay Cycle Route.

Long Barn CL
We arrived early and were warmly welcomed by Roger. We chose this site because of its closeness to Glasson Dock and the beginning of the Morecambe Bay Cycle Route 700. A track has been created through the grounds to make access easy. We cycled to Silverdale and back on a glorious day along a beautifully diverse scenic route. As other people have said the site is flat with hard standings, tranquil and sheltered. No facilities except the basics.

Exceptionally quiet site with level hardstandings

Long Barn CL
We stayed here for 3 nights in October 2018. It must be one of the most tranquil sites we have ever stayed on. Roger and Sarah were very pleasant and helpful. There is a good bus service to Lancaster in the north and Knott End (and thence to Fleetwood and Blackpool) to the south. The buses are every 90 minutes. We had no problem accessing the Lune cycleway as pedestrians, via a rather steep railway bridge. It was not possible to get our bikes there however as the gap allowed is very small. There is a good woodland walk of around 2 miles within the hall grounds. As others mention, the Stork pub is a 30 minute walk away and you can catch the bus back if you get the timing right. 1015 am, then every 90 minutes until 7pm. Walking back on the road is not recommended, especially after dark, as there is no footpath. Nice bar at the golf club and a pleasant garden centre are additional attractions.
