Why stay here ...

Welcome to Vale Farm, Swainsthorpe CL. Our new site is situated in a pretty meadow on our smallholding. Surrounded by open countryside, all pitches are bathed in sunshine on bright days, with an abundance of wildlife to be seen (we have Swallows, Pied Wagtails, Blue Tits, Goldfinches and Barn Owls nesting on our farm).

We have two hard-standing pitches plus three grass pitches all of which have Electric Hook-ups and access to communal Chemical & Grey Waste Emptying, Drinking Water Service and Dry Waste/Recycling Points.

We are in a beautiful, quiet, rural location, yet we are lucky to have the following amenities within easy reach:

  • Numerous countryside walks straight from site, including access to the newly created ‘Ketts-Country’ Circular Trail at Swardeston. (walks start from across the road from our farm entrance and are perfect for dogs. As always, please keep dogs on leads and closely supervise on site). For more adventurous walkers and cyclists, The Peddars Way long distance path runs from Thetford to Holme-Next-The-Sea. Another popular cycling trail is Marriott’s Way – a 26-mile footpath, bridleway and cycle route which follows the routes of two disused railway lines and runs between the historic market town of Aylsham and the medieval city of Norwich.
  • 3 pub restaurants within 5-10 minutes: The Sugar Beat, Swainsthorpe, The World’s End, Mulbarton and The Marsh Harrier, Norwich.
  • The Medieval City of Norwich with Castle & Museum, Cathedral, Covered Market and excellent range of shops, restaurants and leisure activities just 15 mins away.
  • Tesco, Asda and local Co-op, (Mulbarton) supermarkets all a short distance away.
  • The Norfolk Broads and beautiful coastlines nearby. (More info on our information board on site).
  • ‘The Donkey Box Cafe’ serving coffee & croissants, plus other drinks and snacks on site.
  • See our donkeys, goats and sheep in adjacent fields (plus lambs in spring!).

We look forward to welcoming you!

Great quiet site

Vale Farm
Welcomed on arrival. Family run site on a farm. Animals to see and great views. 5 pitches, two of them are on gravel. Disabled toilet facilities. Cafe on the farm which is open during high season. Bus stop about 10 minutes walk away. Two buses per hour into Norwich. Also a Co-op shop and fish & chip shop in the next village. Lovely place to stop and we will return.

Excellent site, perfect for short stopovers or as a base to look around.

Vale Farm
What a lovely site, very well maintained surrounded by fields, sheep, chickens and horses in the fields nearby. Owners very pleasant and frendly, such a peaceful place. My one rgret that we didn't get around to sampling the wares from the donkey box :) Oh and if you use google maps to find it, search for the donkey box it's easier to find :)

A Lovely, convenient CL close to Norwich in an easy to find location.

Vale Farm
We really enjoyed our two night stay at Vale Farm CL last week. Everything about it was straightforward from the original booking arrangements with communications between ourselves and the owners, to site accessibility. The camping area is spacious and well maintained, with two hard standing and three grass pitches, all with EHUs. The area itself overlooks fenced paddock with sheep, hens and donkeys; and the location is simply perfect for visits into Norwich centre with even the "Park and Ride" facility which takes motorhomes, just a little drive along the A140. There is much to explore around the region so we will definitely be making this CL a more regular outing. Thank you for having us, Jenny and Mark.

Fantastic peaceful rural escape

Vale Farm

We have just returned from a short break to visit our daughter who is at university in Norwich. The location is peaceful and the owners are very welcoming. The CL is surrounded by beautiful countryside yet only a 15 minute drive to Norwich. There is also a park and ride a short distance away.. The location its self is very relaxing with space between the pitches all with EHU. There is an area with access to fresh water, waste water and an ELSAN point. On site there is The Donkey Box Cafe where you can sit and enjoy the animals whilst enjoying a treat.. Highly recommend this site and will definitely be back to stay again.

Fabulous for a short stay

Vale Farm
Vale farm was a lovely small site with a small farm holding where we were encouraged to explore the animals on the day the donkeybox cafe was open. Only thing that would improve the site, would be an opportunity for a shower / toilet block. Obviously not a problem if you have a caravan with such facilities. Owners were lovely and welcoming. Great location to visit nearby Norwich and The Broads. We will definitely look to return over coming weeks.
