Delightful Site

Saxon House Farm
A delightful site with lovely views over the wolds. Flat grassy field, good wide entrance. Sheltered from the north and east. Pitches are west facing so excellent for sunsets! Within easy reach of the glorious Yorkshire coast:- Scarborough, Filey, Flamborough, Bempton and Bridlington. Also near enough to explore the Wolds and North Yorkshire Moors. Hunmanby is close by for local shops and pubs. Would thoroughly recommend this CL. Very reasonable too at £16 including all electric.

Disappointing Autumn Visit 2020

Saxon House Farm
Ever wonder why there has been no reviews since 2015? We visited at the end of October 2020 hoping for a few days rest and getting away from Covid 19 restrictions. Price per night with EHU is £10. Positives: 1. very easy to find and well signposted 2. Fantastic views over open fields 3. Handy for coast and tourist sites 4. Good dog walking facilities on site and off 5 Clear instructions of how to pay on arrival if there was no one available and it is a working farm. Negatives: 1. Slope down onto field which had 6 pitches, 1 water tap and EHU, second field has pitches for non EHU. 2 The grass was at least 6 inches long and due to the heavy recent rain was extremely wet. It had been previously cut but all the cuttings had been left on the field. Therefore due to the rain we had a constant battle of keeping wet grass out of the caravan. 3. On our second day of four the electricity went off completely (not tripped out). Phoned the owner who was helping out another farmer elsewhere. He returned after an hour but after much deliberation he informed us that he had called out an electrician who would be out in a couple of hours. By now it was passed midday and we had no guarantee of the problem being sorted so we decided to leave the site. We were refunded for 3 of the four nights, which we had paid on arrival even though we had stayed 2 nights and we found this to be very fair. 4. On departure the grass was so wet and muddy that we had to use the motor mover to get the caravan off the field as our Peugot 3008, 2 litre with extra traction control was just slipping in the mud. Unfortunately based on this experience we would not be returning to this site.

Good base

Saxon House Farm
First visit to this non-electric site and we would return.  Easy to find, a good base for the local area. Field was well kept and grass is short.  The road next to the site is busy during commuter times but didn't bother us, but the locals do wizz up and down!

Good value site

Saxon House Farm
This site has good access and offers good basic facilities. Lovely level field, with well maintained lawn. Owners are friendly, there if you need them. The site is well signed and easy to find. Although this site is on a working farm the actual field is safe and suitable for children. We have been using this CL for over 10 years and always look forward to going back.
