When is a CL not a CL....

Village Farm
Although not a bad site, at around 0.3 of an acre it is too small for 5 caravans in my opinion. Also, just over a small fence is another camp site. This other campsite uses all the facilities of the CL and uses the CL via a gate as a thoroughfare to the road. When we arrived there were two other caravans on this other site so really making the CL 7 vans. Top tip if you do visit this site and have a large van don't approach the entrance from the East as the entrance is orientated one way and is too tight without going up on the bank. So if you come in from Bedale direction don't take the turn to Thornton Watlass with the white railings but take the next junction. This will allow you to come into the site from the West. The overall area is great though and a host of great pubs and coffee places within a few miles. Ones id recommend are the Sprouted Kitchen in Bedale and the Johnny Bagdads Cafe in Masham, both unique places with great food. The local pub in Watlass, The Buck Inn is quite nice too and right next to the site. The food isn't bad but I have personal hate for frozen chips so only went once.

Lovely, Peaceful CL

Village Farm
Spent 4 nights here having booked at the very last minute. Loved the CL. It was quiet, well kept and very convenient for walking in Masham, Leyburn and Bedale. Didn't make contact at all with the owners but all we needed to know was on the notice board and we paid by BACS. Pub very close by with decent beer and menu looked good. Hope it stays open as land close by appears to be for sale.

Check your approach

Village Farm
A lovely site with plenty of room. It is just that the directions are a bit confusing. When it says take the second right sp Thornton Watless it means ignore the sp in Bedale just after leaving the town centre but take the right turn out in the country with the white fence on the corner. I hope that helps.

Perfect

Village Farm
Just spent a lovely weekend at this gorgeous little site. Perfectly located mid way between Bedale and Masham and has a lovely pub in the village. We only saw the owner briefly on Saturday afternoon to pay, but didn't feel like we were abandoned, and a good information board made us feel very welcome (we were disappointed there were no eggs though!). Fields of Cow's, Sheep and friendly Hens along with good weather and the chiming of the church clock really made it for us. Each pitch has electric hook up and the added bonus of it's own water tap. Well worth every penny of the £12 a night fee, we would highly recommend Village Farm, and at less than 50 miles from home, I'm quite sure we'll be back next year. Just to note, the distance from the 2nd roundabout to the right turn for Masham, as shown on the site directions, is more like 5.5 miles, than 3, so just be aware that you haven't gone wrong if you don't reach it when you think you should!

Another Gem

Village Farm
Stayed tow nights on our way back to Scotland. Facilities top class, Eggs available from honesty box. Located just next to village green & pub, watched the village cricket team play on a Wednesday night - funny boundaries, with ball just missing a couple of passing cars. Great location for visiting Bedale - Masham etc. Easy access once you have traveled up the single track - we didn't meet anyone
