Darling little site

Lovely site, v secluded, lots of wildlife to watch and the pitches feel v private from each other. Some train noise as others have said but we didn't find it intrusive. Nearest pub in Gayton looks perm closed. The Greyhound pub and local shop in the opp direction are walkable (<2miles away), but the shop isn't especially well stocked - no eggs, cheese, papers etc the Sat we stopped by for supplies. Super close to the canal and a great base for walking and cycling through this lovely county.

Very friendly and helpful owner

We’d just picked up our caravan and wanted to see if everything worked. This site was roughly half way between our home & the dealership, ideal in case things went wrong! The site was easy to find and access was OK along the country lanes. The owner was very friendly & very welcoming, helped us to get set up and helpfully answered our newbie caravan pitching questions without complaint. The only criticism - and I’m probably being picky - is that we’d asked for a hardstanding pitch and were pitched on quite a soft patch of stone/ballast, but that worked for us as we could drive straight on/off. There was some noise from the railway, as other reviews had said, but that didn’t bother us. The site was basic, but, we didn’t want/need anything more as we wanted to be self-sufficient, so, was exactly what we wanted. Overall, it was an enjoyable stay. There are some nice walks along the nearby canal tow paths.

This is a wee gem of a site.

We literately stumbled upon this CL site and as we live locally we thought we'd give it a try. We had only just bought our tourer and wanted to try it out before setting of on our next adventure (just as well as we had a few minor problems with it) We booked over the phone and when we arrived the warden was at the gate ready to greet us. He gave us directions to our plot and followed us down on foot and was ready to meet us when we got to the plot. It's a lovely place, very quiet and tranquil (except for the odd train) We had initially booked for 7 nights but have now extended that to 21 nights. The Grand Union Canal is very close and many pleasant walks are to be had It is a very basic site with water, electric hook ups, and toilet disposal. Gayton Marina is a short drive away if you need a gas bottle (or feel the need to hire a day boat for a cruise) and I believe there is a pub nearby (need to check that one out) ten minutes up the road is a Tesco supermarket and Northampton town is about a 15 minute drive with KFC, and MacDonalds Alde, Lidl, and a B&Q. The Warden George is probably one of the kindest and most helpful people I have ever met, he is really nice guy! Some other reviewers have said that the noise from the nearby train line is noisy and to be honest yes you can rear them but we did not find them very intrusive. The site is open all year.

Charming oasis.

When booking we had some concern about a couple of negative reviews, but fortunately we needn’t have worried. On arrival the warden couldn’t have been more helpful and welcoming. He quickly hooked us up, with which we had no problems. The grass around the plots is well cut and the remaining area left to encourage a natural environment for nature and wild life. Trees screen the whole site. Waste facilities are fine and easily accessible. Although near a railway line any noise from trains was hardly noticeable. There is no other noise but birdsong. The site is well located for walking ( the canal towpath being nearby), and we did plenty of cycling on country roads. Walking to the Walnut Tree pub (which served food), took less that 20 minutes. We wouldn’t hesitate in booking this site again if ever returning to the area.

Great site.

The Limes is a little gem of a CL. The warden was waiting for me on what was a late dark Friday evening, showing me to the pitch, helping me to reverse in to a great level site. After he had showed me where the services were he left us to get set up. We are ralliers so the option of hook up was a bit of a novelty. At some point the power tripped out, some of the other punters were wirreting, two guy knocked on the door to see they could help us, as we didn't mind as I just switched everything over to the gas. Hook up was restored within the hour. Next morning warden checked all the power posts. When we left the warden was on hand to help guide us out. Both guys I met were fantastic. The site itself is like a little wilderness (in a good way) We visited in October, storm Brian was blowing a hoolie, yet the wildlife was abundant, foxes, goats and loads of birds. All the services are easy to access and in good condition. Pitches give more privacy than some CLs due to the wild nature of the site. There is some deep water on site so please consider this if you have young children. The afore mentioned train noise didn't disturb us at all, certainly not at night and the lovely Mrs Fit is a very light sleeper. The surrounding area is very picturesque, especially the canal. We would definitely return to this CL Thanks Guys.
