very pretty site

This is a very nice site, well cared for with good facilities. Entrance to the site is very tight if you have a twin axle van. I was charged more than was advertised when I booked and all though I wasn't charged for my dog I was informed that there would be a charge in the future. I really object to sites that keep adding on additional charges and I will not be returning.

A Caravan Site with Great Views and Services

Well my wife and I were looking for a site to stay at for the weekend where it was quiet and with nice views if possible. On looking on the Caravan Club Web Site we found Lower Moorend View Site - it looked just perfect for our weekend. I called direct and spoke with Natalia who was helpful with making the booking. We obtained the direction to the site and set off. We only had a short journey to get to the site. The directions were very easy to follow - we found the entrance to the farm and site very easy. There is a Caravan and Motorhome Club sign at the entrance to the driveway. As we drove up the drive to the farm we were greeted by Natalia who was coming out of the house, oh yes and the two dogs who were barking - saying that I think the springer spaniel was just barking for the fun of it - more chance of being licked to death than being bitten. They are both working dogs, so it understandable that they bark at strangers - we certainly were never worried about the dogs as they were always tied up. Anyway, Natalia gave us a summary of the facilities and she did say to use any of the vacant pitches. Natalia said she would pop down later to see us. Natalia was most welcoming. Well we then drove to the gate that gave access to the caravan pitches. To be honest all of the pitches had lovely views of the valley, so it did not really matter which one you picked. The gap between each pitch was really good, much bigger than most of the sites we have been to. Any awnings would need to be set up on the grass, so make sure you have a ground sheet if it is wet. I was really impressed that there was a power and water point at the rear of you pitch. The point had a light which would help if you arrived during the hours of darkness. The bins, waste water point and toilets were positioned at the bottom of the site on the left. The waste water and bins were on concrete which is good if the drowns was wet. The toilet block contained two toilets and a sink (with a towel). It was immaculately clean. There was information on the walls about the local area, which is a nice touch. Natalia did come and see us shortly after we arrived and spoke to us for a good 15 minutes. Natalia stated there were no issues with putting up an awning if we wanted too. Although we had bought our awning we did not put it up. In the evening we decided to walk to the Yew Tree Inn for a light refreshment (10 minutes walk). Wow what an amazing pub. This is well worth a visit if you are staying at the site or you are in the area. The sunset is really amazing, especially as you have great views of the valley. In summary this is a lovely caravan site. It has very good facilities considering it is not a big site. It is ideally positioned for visiting this part of the Peak District and Alton Towers if you want some excitement - we will certainly visit again for the peace and quiet.

Disappointed

Although a lovely area and caravan parkarea clean, tidy and very nicely laid out we cant say it was very welcoming. The turn entering which people have written about was sharp and we had to reverse as nearly missed the site but did manage to turn. Once at the entrance, we were greeted by a couple on barking dogs, one on a chain, who alerted the lady of our arrival. Her greeting was ' go through the gate and take your pick'. No other information was given i.e. toilets, water, waste area etc. The evening prior to setting off we telephoned the site as there had been heavy rain. The owners answer was 'we're on a hill so we don't flood', however what he failed to tell us was that the grass was exceptional water logged. We were on site for 3 nights during which time we could not use the awning and the carpets inside the caravan were becoming damp and stained. As on a hill ground drainage is obviously an issue. The morning after our arrival we gathered more information from the male owner once we had asked. We asked about their dogs which had been rambling the caravan field earlier and we were concerned about our small dog. He told us one dog didn't like other dogs, this made us very uncomfortable as we had seen it jump the gate that morning. He said he would keep it chained up if he wasn't around. One of our first jobs was also to removed left dog muck near to the caravan. We don't feel this site should say suitable for dogs without warning its guests. Sadly we wont be returning however site probably ideal for short says or motorhomes.

Fantastic find!

The 'Why stay here....' details on the club site outlines better than I will ever express just why you should stay here! It's an extremely accurate over view of the site, its location and of things to do. It is a beautiful, small, quiet site situated brilliantly for local activities, amenities and attractions. Some fab pubs within walking distance that do food if you wish to eat out. I was greeted on arrival by Natalia who welcomed me and gave me an overview of the site and ensured I settled in comfortably. I later met Daniel who was also extremely welcoming and when I said i was looking to do walks in the area he gave me some good advice on places to go and things to do. The toilets were immaculately clean ( I was in a camper van, so also very welcome!). In all, this is a fab site, brilliant location and ran by a lovely family. Already looking to book to go back.
