Why stay here ...

We are located just outside the village of Milford, Surrey, within the Surrey Hills area of outstanding natural beauty and with easy access to many miles of heath land and commons providing walking, running, cycling and riding routes with a number of beautiful villages and hamlets in the area (maps available). We are five minutes from the A3 with driving journey times of 45 minutes to Portsmouth or to London.

The pitches are located in a south facing field with an open outlook to grassland and woods. The CL site is grassed and flat with hard standings and 16amp electrical hook-ups.

The site is very conveniently located near to a mainline rail station (Portsmouth to London Waterloo) enabling trips to London’s theatre land and shops plus Portsmouth’s historical dockyard etc. Very close by (app 500 yds) is Marsh Farm Fishery, a large and renowned Carp fishery attracting anglers from far and wide. Milford Golf Club – Pay and Play, is also a few minutes walk up the lane.

Nearby attractions (15 minutes drive or less) include:

  • Winkworth Arboretum GU8 4AD (a National Trust property whose grounds and tea room are open all year round except 24 & 25 December).
  • Busbridge Lakes GU8 4AY 2.4 miles/5minutes (a Grade II heritage garden and parkland with over 130 different waterfowl, normally open on Bank Holidays).
  • Godalming Museum GU7 1AQ (open Tuesdays – Saturdays).

Just under 25 minutes drive takes you to the starting point for boat trips on a newly restored section of the Wey & Arun Canal (April to October) which is beside a village pub The Onslow Arms, Loxwood RH14 0RD which serves reasonably priced hearty food. Out of season the pub is a good starting point for walking along the towpath.

A gem of a site!

Rakes Corner
What a lovely peaceful site in a busy area of Surrey, not far off the A3 and fast access to London, Portsmouth or anywhere in between. Beautiful local countryside, with so many wooded and heathland areas to walk, you're spoilt for choice. The site itself is flat and levelling is dead easy, pitches are spacious with mown grass plus compacted gravel driveways and parking strips. Penny & Jeff are a delightful couple, extremely helpful and welcoming without being at all intrusive. On this site you aren't handed an A4 sheet of rules but all whom we met there treated the location with great respect. Dogs are welcome and there are some good dog walks nearby. Will definitely return.

Ease of arrival/welcome

Being Countryside dwellers from Cornwall we loved this site. A gem amidst populated areas of Godalming, Guildford and to the coast.

Rakes Corner
Easy access, Good welcome from the owner who explained about the electric metering. First £1.50 is included in daily fee, any excess units are charged for on leaving. An excellent idea in our opinion. In our experience lately many sites are just adding on as much as £5 a day for the power crisis which if you've got a small or medium sized van there is no way you would accumulate that many units of electricity. We stayed 3 nights and didn't have to pay any extra. The main Portsmouth to Waterloo line is 2 minutes walk away, excellent. You can't hear the trains from the site and they don't run all night anyway. Medium amount of traffic on roads outside the site but there are pedestrian walkways so very safe. Lovely little walk into village of Milford, grocery, butchers, wine shop!! Barbers, fish n chips. Everything you could possibly need and loads of lanes and walks and footpaths everywhere. We loved it and wouldn't hesitate to return. Only 5 pitches in a lovely field with grazing sheep other side of the fence, all south facing so looking forward to returning in the summer. Bring baby wipes though as no loos or showers, you need your own facilities.

What a great little site, lovely views over the fields and they have sheep which I love. So peaceful. We stayed for 3 nights and absolutely loved it. Close to lots of places of interest by walking or car. The owners are really nice and very helpful. Can't wait to go again. Lorraine and Mal.
