Why stay here ...

We are located just outside the village of Milford in Surrey, within the Surrey Hills area of outstanding natural beauty and with easy access to many miles of heath land and commons providing walking, running, cycling and riding routes with a number of beautiful villages and hamlets in the area. We are 5 mins from the A3 with driving journey times of 45 minutes to both Portsmouth and London.

The pitches are located in a south facing field with an open outlook to grassland and woods. The CL site is grassed and flat with electrical hook-ups.

The site is very conveniently located near to a mainline rail station (Portsmouth to London Waterloo) enabling trips to London’s theatre land and shops plus Portsmouth’s historical dockyard etc. Very close by (app 500 yds) is Marsh Farm Fishery, a large and renowned Carp fishery attracting anglers from far and wide. Milford Golf Club – Pay and Play, is also a few minutes walk up the lane.

Nearby attractions (15 minutes drive or less) include:

  • Winkworth Arboretum (a National Trust property whose grounds and tea room are open all year round except 24 and 25 December).
  • Busbridge Lakes(a Grade II heritage garden and parkland with over 130 different waterfowl, normally open on Bank Holidays).
  • Loseley Park 16th century House & Gardens (open Sunday – Thursday afternoons for guided visits from April to September, shop and various events throughout the year).
  • Watts Gallery and Watts Chapel (tea room and exhibitions throughout the year, open Tuesdays – Sundays).
  • The Sculpture Park at Churt – over 600 sculptures which can be seen from two miles of trails in a wildlife inhabited arboretum (open all year round except 24 and 25 December) – plus there is a  pub/restaurant situated just a few yards from the park.
  • The Godalming Pocketboat Company run horse-drawn canal boat trips on the River Wey Navigation most days from Easter until the end of September.

For those interested in canals, just under 25 minutes drive takes you to the starting point for boat trips on a newly restored section of the Wey and Arun Canal (April to October) which is beside a village pub The Onslow Arms which serves reasonably priced hearty food.

Nearby towns are: Godalming with a good range of restaurants; Farnham offering restaurants and excellent shopping and Guildford which offers all of these plus a theatre where many shows open before moving to London.

Nearby facilities a ten minute walk away include an excellent butcher, wine merchant, Co-Op store as well as a farm shop which also hosts a farmers market on the third Sunday of the month. Alternatively, The Star pub is a 15 minute walk with a good, quiet restaurant, beer garden and outside children’s play area.

We also have a Hogroast and BBQ business if you fancied a party with fellow caravaners. We can also provide basic awning repairs…!

A cracker of a site.

As we pulled in the owner wandered out to help us pick a pitch. Peaceful site, really well laid out, not sure what else you could want from a CL. As we were attending a gig in Godalming and I didn't want to drive I enquired about a taxi, owner suggested the train, a 5 minute walk from the site. £5.20 for 2 of us return, a bargain. A gem of a site, I would thoroughly recommend to all you happy campers. Not sure why there were only Bailey's a bit spooky...… We will definitely look to return.

Ideal for us

Great site ideal for us for visiting family in Woking. Well secure as you are given code for gate on booking. Very flat and nice grass. Can choose pitch. Owner friendly and has time to chat, grass well kept. Large area for exercising dogs or kids to run around in away from the vans.

Very welcoming owner and lovely site!

Helpful welcome from owners when we couldn't find the location - our fault entirely as was well signposted outside, I was just looking at the other side of the road! Mrs Jann kindly came and stood in the road so we wouldn't pass by again. Very handy for Milford station, and a 15 minute walk into Milford - tip take a torch if after dark. Although a pavement, no street lights and the cars do whizz up and down there. Quiet site, nice views, very little road or rail noise. Despite it pouring down most of the weekend, the site remained well drained due to gravel under the grass. Will definitely return again - hopefully in December.

Wet and dry

We arrived in the pouring rain and were slightly concerned about the possibility of the site being muddy. We need not have worried the ground was still rock hard after the prolonged dry spell and even though it rained well into the evening and overnight the next day the ground drained very well and never got muddy at all. The entrance is off a narrow road via two gates the first of which is electric and controlled via a keypad. On booking I had been given the code over the phone but had forgotten it and had to use the intercom to request it. Unfortunately the approach to this gate is short and the delay will leave long outfits projecting dangerously into the lane. To minimise entry delay, don't forget the code like I did. Once through the gate you are into a large gravelled forecourt where we were greeted by the friendly owner who advised he had a tractor in the unlikely event we might find ourselves stuck. The site is located through another gate and although level was a little bunpy. The elsan and water points are well presented and easy to use. I especially liked the boxing in of course gravel under the water points to prevent the ground from becoming soggy and muddy from any spillage. All in all a well presented CL which we will use again especially as the owner advised he will be putting in three hard standings later in the year.

Would definately return

Jeff gave us a very warm welcome on arrival and for the first time with any CL, he actually took time to point out the location of the services. We loved the way that he is very laid back about rules and just invited us to pitch wherever we liked. All the services were clean and very well marked. We marked a 4 for peace and tranquility, only because there is some (slight) daytime road noise. However nighttime was very quiet and tranquil. We also marked 4 for scenery, which some might find harsh, because there are beautiful view, but only as far as the tree line about two or three hundred meters away. I would definitely recommend this sight for it's ease of access, cleanliness and the charm of Jeff and Penny, the hosts. Best regards Bob & Kay Webster
