Why stay here ...

Firbank Park is located in beautiful Royal Deeside within the Cairngorms National Park. This is the place to come if you love nature, peace and quiet. The hardstanding pitches are nestled amongst mature Douglas Fir, Scotch Pine and Oak trees and are generously spaced out within the 5 acre site. Each pitch offers an electric hook up and your own fresh water source.

There is an abundance of wonderful walks, cycle tracks, Munros (mountains at least 3000ft high) to climb all right on your doorstep. Cycle hire is available locally. The River Dee is less than 50m to the North and fishing and horse riding is available on the local Glen Tanar Estate. Or if you want to simply relax Firbank is a beautiful place just to be and to soak up the natural beauty and tranquillity of the area.

Dinnet Oakwood, one of the oldest Oak woods in Scotland, runs behind the site. You will share your visit with the local wildlife including Red Squirrel, Roe Deer, Pine Martins, Badgers, Kite and Buzzards all of which can be spotted on a regular basis. For this reason, we ask that dogs are kept on leads at all times when within the site.

The Boat Inn is a 10 minute drive away in Aboyne where you can enjoy a drink in their bar. They also offer excellent pub grub and dogs are very welcome. In the village of Dinnet, just 10 minutes walk away, you will find bus stops heading East and West with services connecting you to the local villages and as far as Aberdeen City.

The villages of Ballater, to the West, and Aboyne, to the East, are both 10 minutes drive away by car or bus. Both have a reasonably sized supermarket, chemist, doctor, cafes, shops, restaurants and takeaways. When in Ballater you will see many of the shops which have been awarded the Royal Warrant recognising their service to The Royal Family. One of our favourite haunts is Shorty’s Ice Cream Parlour in Ballater where all the ice creams are made on site and are delicious!

Balmoral Castle is only a 20 minute drive away and when out and about you may be lucky enough to see a member of the Royal Family who regularly walk around Ballater and the surrounding area. If you see someone you think looks like a Royal then it probably will be!

Braemar (home of the world famous Braemar Gathering) is a 30 minute drive and is well worth a visit with some quaint little shops and eateries. The newly renovated Fife Arms Hotel is very interesting and hosts some very unique and expensive artwork including a wax model of Queen Victoria and a real Picasso! Making it an ideal excuse for a bite to eat, a coffee or a wee dram.

Archie and Justine would love to share this beautiful part of Royal Deeside with you and will be available if you need any further information or help during your stay. We look forward to welcoming you.

Perfect

Firbank Park
Set in an area of woodland and close to Balmoral, Braemar and Ballater this is a gem in the true sense. Probably one of the most spacious CL’s we have ever visited. The grass is well maintained and each pitch has its own EHU and water supply. Grey waste disposal is at a dedicated service area which also houses a hut with WC, wash basin and book swap shelves etc. Don’t let the term hut or shed put you off. Justine, owner, described it as very sweet and it certainly is. Everything was cleaned regularly. An exceptionally well thought out and maintained site and now one of our all-time favourites and sensibly priced at £25 per night despite the lack of shower facilities.

No question, deserves "best CL" status

Firbank Park
We have just returned from a 5 day stay, initially we booked for three but storm Babet decided to visit the area. Everything has already been said about how good the site is, how good hard standing and facilities are, I would like to comment on the care and consideration given by the owners Justine and Archie. From the second we arrived we knew we were visiting a professionally run top site however the genuine friendly welcome was superb with all questions re walking routes and cycle trails answered concisely. Once it became obvious that the storm would hit, Archie asked us what we would like to do as all options were on the table, cancellation with no penalty, staying on site etc etc. We decided to sit it out on site and so we discussed wind directions and the best pitch to move the van to, all of this was no problem. We were in a fantastic sheltered pitch and felt nothing more than rain on the roof, we got out for walks every day in the woods and checked on the Dee every day which is spectacular. Archie and Justine contacted us appropriately every day and because of the storms, offered grocery shopping if we needed anything also offering to get us fish and chips from Aboyne on the Friday night, this felt like staying with family instead of being visitors. I dont usually rave on like this but these two lovely people deserve so much credit for everything they are doing.

Just Great!

Firbank Park
Second stop on our trip. Lovely CL. Justine the owner is lovely, very welcoming and a hive of information. Spacious pitches in a huge mown field, hard standing for vans, water on each pitch. A lovely spot on the River Dee and much to see in the area. Easy access. Great walking for dogs and humans! The toilet building looks nothing but like a little palace inside.😀. There is some road noise during the day with the logging wagons, but not intrusive at all.A super CL for anyone wanting to visit Royal Deeside. Firbank CL

A Real Gem

Firbank Park
We have just returned from a 3 night stay which was a dream. All has indeed been said already. This is a great spot for a quiet getaway. Nice and central for touring Royal Deeside. The special warm welcome from Justine and Archie made a real difference. The Simpsons will be back soon. Kenny for the ice cream van especially.
